Brilliant tour with Siggy. He was really knowledgeable and friendly. The golden circle was all its cracked up to be and he was great about being flexible with what we wanted to do :)

When planning your self-drive adventure of Iceland, you MUST use Iceland Unlimited. Mona was absolutely amazing! She helped us organize our trip. She got us awesome hotel rates at the tier we wanted and made all of the reservations; she made the reservation for a great deal for our rental car (we were picked up at the hotel by a driver and driven to the rental car facility in downtown Reykjavik); had a private driver pick us up at the airport and returned us to the airport; made a detailed map and written itinerary of places to experience and restaurants to try; and made all of the reservations for our special excursions. When mother nature had other plans for us, Mona was on top of communicating the necessary changes that needed to be made ASAP. I highly recommend Iceland Unlimited in reducing the headache of searching the best hotel deals, rental car rates, etc. They will work with you in planning your ultimate trip to Iceland. We were there for 22 days. When we plan our next trip there, we will again be using their services.

What an amazing trip, and what an amazing country! I don't have enough good things to say about Iceland Unlimited. Sotiria was patient, helpful, and informative as we started planning the trip. She was in contact with us the whole time, and was helpful with the planning and prep needed to meet Iceland's covid requirements. We selected the 8 (or 9?) day self guided Ring Road tour, and I highly recommend it. Early September was a good time to go. There were no big crowds, and the weather was a pretty constant 50 degrees, rain or shine. Be sure to invest in GOOD rain gear, since you will want to be outside and see the sights no matter what. Thoughts on Sotiria and Iceland Unlimited. Everything was exactly as advertised. We had a nice new car, and were provided with a great map that Sotiria annotated with suggestions on cool things to do each day. We were so busy we usually didn't get to our hotel until after dark! We selected the "better" quality hotels and were not disappointed in the hotels they booked for us. Even though the towns in Iceland are all pretty small, each hotel was different and very cool, including striking modern designs, old farmhouses, and standalone cottages. We had no glitches with anything they planned. Thoughts on Iceland itself: try local foods like lamb and plokkfiskur. Try fish that you've never had before. Be sure to try the hot dogs with fried onions for lunch! Make a lunch stop at the tomato soup restaurant in a greenhouse near Geysir. One thing I'd recommend is taking a side trip to Husavik; it's a quaint fishing town on a beautiful fjord, with nice restaurants. And it was the location of the Eurovision Song Contest movie (recommend you watch it before you go). I recommend you also take an extra day to explore the Snaefellnes peninsula; it's got some beautiful beaches, rock formations, and a glacier. Take time at the end of the day to enjoy the town's pool/spa. Each one is different. My personal favorites were the ones at Lake Myvatin and in Husavik (think: infinity pool situated on the top of a cliff overlooking the ocean). Both of those were way better and less touristy than the Blue Lagoon. I also recommend you stay a couple of extra days in Reyjavik. It's small enough to be easily walkable, so book a hotel downtown where all the action is, There are lots of fun shops and restaurants to explore. We went to museums, whale watching, and saw the sights. One day we rented a car and drove down to Fagradalsfjall, an active volcano maybe 30 miles south of town. This is not part of the Ring Tour. Combine it with a trip to the Blue Lagoon nearby. You can hike up the mountain (takes 1-2 hours depending on what shape you're in and your experience level) and actually look down on the volcano and walk on the still steaming lava fields. That was one of the coolest experiences in my life. Note: Driving the Ring Road is not for the faint of heart. It's basically a two lane road with no shoulder anywhere, even on mountains and fjord cliffs. A lot of the time there's not even a barrier to stop you from going over the edge. Almost every bridge is a one lane affair, so be prepared for lots of slowing down because there are a ton of bridges (due to the many waterfalls). Speed limit is uusually around 50, so just take it slow and pay close attention to the road. It's tough to do sometimes because you will want to look at the scenery while driving. But no worries, every interesting sight will have a little parking lot or pull-off for viewing, so pay attention to the road while driving. My last bit of advice is to plan ahead. There are so many things to do, and different kinds of experiences, that you can't do them all. So familiarize yourself ahead of time so you are not wasting time there trying to figure out what to do next. Enjoy!

Top notch company! Zeynep and Sotiria responded to all our questions promptly and patiently. This company is one that modifies its standard trips without surcharges. We lengthed a Ring Road/ Snaeff trip to 12 nights. This allowed us 3 double nights which made the stops more relaxing. Sotiria highlighted hiking trails and other natural sights, which were our groups interest. Strongly recommend using this company for your self guided trip to Iceland!

We – family of four – went on a 2-week self-drive tour with a personalized itinerary focusing on the Westfjords, and with a few days on the south coast. Sotiria did a wonderful job organizing our route. We sent many emails back and forth, with Sotiria responding very promptly and making changes to suit our interests. All the hotels and other bookings were excellent, services everywhere at a high level, very welcoming. After a day in Reykjavik, we headed north and spent an entire day driving the Strandir coast. We spent 2 days in Isafjordur, where we went kayaking and hiking in Hornstrandir. Further stops were the Snaefellsnes peninsula and from there we headed for the south coast to see waterfalls and the newly erupting volcano Fagradalsfjall. The restaurant recommendations – from Sotiria’s list – were all excellent. The advice to reserve a table – even if only a day or two in advance – was very good, as we noticed people being turned away at several places, especially in Reykjavik. Since our experience with Iceland Unlimited on our first trip to Iceland in 2017 was positive, we chose to book with them again for this trip. Highly recommended!
