When planning your self-drive adventure of Iceland, you MUST use Iceland Unlimited. Mona was absolutely amazing! She helped us organize our trip. She got us awesome hotel rates at the tier we wanted and made all of the reservations; she made the reservation for a great deal for our rental car (we were picked up at the hotel by a driver and driven to the rental car facility in downtown Reykjavik); had a private driver pick us up at the airport and returned us to the airport; made a detailed map and written itinerary of places to experience and restaurants to try; and made all of the reservations for our special excursions. When mother nature had other plans for us, Mona was on top of communicating the necessary changes that needed to be made ASAP. I highly recommend Iceland Unlimited in reducing the headache of searching the best hotel deals, rental car rates, etc. They will work with you in planning your ultimate trip to Iceland. We were there for 22 days. When we plan our next trip there, we will again be using their services.

We used Iceland Unlimited to plan a nine night Ring Road self driving tour. Originally planned for 2020 we had to reschedule for 2021 due to COVID. The country only allows visitors with a history of vaccination or previous COVID plus a negative test to enter, the border. Plus they mask everywhere and have available sanitizer so it feels very safe. Getting a COVID test to return to the U.S. is also easy to schedule online for Reykjavik or Akuryeri.

The company Iceland Unlimited itself is a travel agency that can help you plan a driving tour, including arranging hotels and optional excursion. We chose the Deluxe category of rooms and were very pleased with accommodations. All hotels include a buffet breakfast with a wide variety of options, often including vegetarian and vegan for those who would like it. Once hotels are chosen for an itinerary we were able to give input or suggestions if we wanted to make any changes before reservations were finalized.

We loved every day of our whirlwind Ring Road drive and lucked out with the July weather too. We saw everything we wanted to see! All of it!! For optional excursions we added a glacier lagoon zodiac tour which was incredible, and a whale and puffin watch with Gentle Giants out of Husavik.

Every check in and reservation was seamless, prepaid a month before arrival. We worked with Sotiria at Iceland Unlimited and her communication was rapid and thorough answering any question I sent to her within 24 hours (given the time difference). The provided itinerary guide with text and photos for each day plus the personalized annotated map were so helpful to study at dinner each night before our next leg of the journey.

The paid package includes accommodations for every night plus breakfast, a rental car for the whole week including a WiFi hot spot, private pickup from the airport.

We only had to pay for gas and meals excluding breakfast. Food in Iceland is without question 50-75% higher in cost than the U.S.! If you simply accept that fact and plan your budget accordingly then there is no need for any frustration. It is not about “value” but rather paying the going rate and in return having regular fresh fish and delectable lamb and local foods. Used to paying $12 for a burger and fries? In Iceland it’s $20. Used to $8 for a draft beer? In Iceland it’s $14. Lamb chops for $30, now it’s $50. Fish and langoustine soup is $30 instead of $20 for lunch.

During our entire 10 days we did not use a cent of cash, everything was Apple Pay everywhere - parking, gift shops, restaurants. We never exchanged money and I only used my phone.

Iceland is a beautiful country, and Iceland Unlimited helped us have the best possible trip!

Our 7-day accessible guided private tour in late August, 2019 went flawlessly. Our itinerary included the best sites of the Golden Circle Tour, the South Coast Tour, the West of Iceland, the Reykjanes Peninsula and Blue Lagoon Tour, as well as adequate time to get acquainted with Reykjavik with short walks from our centrally located Alda Hotel. The scenery, sites, and cultural highlights were amazing, but the trip was made beyond incredible by Sigurd Sigurdson, our private guide. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable and helpful with our wheelchair issues, we will always feel that we have a good friend in Iceland. We would love to travel with him again. Thanks for everything.

Look no further for the best company to arrange a fabulous trip to Iceland! The country is absolutely beautiful and we are so glad that we chose Iceland Unlimited to plan our 12 day self drive trip. Sotiria was the agent assigned to organize our very detailed itinerary, and we could not have put all of this together without her help. She provided the itinerary in advance and a well marked map on arrival. However, we found it helpful to order an Iceland map on Amazon ahead of time and go ahead and match it to the itinerary before leaving home. We appreciated her prompt, professional responses throughout the whole process and we were assured we would get instant help 24/7 from a number we were provided, but fortunately never needed. We were very pleased with all of the COMFORT level hotels she booked and slept comfortably every night. Hotel staff at each location was helpful, and the tasty breakfast buffets that were included provided a great start to each day. Sotiria's descriptions of distances and things to anticipate were helpful, and and she provided a fabulous list of restaurants (you really do need reservations, or plan to eat between 4-6pm).

The only thing we would do differently is to have chosen the 14 day trip because there were a couple of areas we would like to have stayed longer. Please keep in mind that the first and last 2 days you are not driving the Ring Road, but are in Reykjavik. We were on the Ring Road only 9 of our 12 day trip so consider that when choosing. The first day is needed to acclimate and rest before hitting the road , and the final return to the city is necessary to complete COVID testing requirements and finish exploring all Reykjavik has to offer. You really should choose an extra night in areas where you plan an excursion because unfortunately we found little time to enjoy the beautiful sights in some areas because snowmobiling and ice cave visits ate up a large portion of those days. You can be assured that Iceland Unlimited will help you plan the ultimate visit to Iceland!

Iceland Unlimited has truly made my trip to Iceland unforgettable and memorable. I had the best time exploring the beautiful country and soaking in its amazing landscapes. We were traveling with a party on wheelchair and after much research, I found out that Iceland Unlimited does provide additional services and make travelling in Iceland accessible.

The whole booking process with Iceland Unlimited was smooth and convenient. I am very grateful for Iceland Unlimited for catering their tour services to people with disabilities or travellers that may require additional assistance. Since it was a private tour, we could choose what areas we were really keen on visiting and our travel specialist, Mona, would plan the itinerary. The whole booking process was so smooth mainly because of how prompt the replies were! Mona was very patient with what we have in mind and made sure to plan the best suited itinerary that fitted within our budget. It did not take long for us to finalise the itinerary and all the necessary arrangements for the additional assistance we needed.

The vehicle that brought us around the country had a ramp which was useful whenever we needed to bring the wheelchair down. It was also very spatial and we could fit all our luggage and the wheelchair with ease. I am also thankful to our guide, Ingi, for driving us all around to visit the different locations. He was always so punctual and had the best timing. It seemed as though we were always visiting the sites just before or after the major tour buses arrived so we did not face much crowd. One special moment was when he brought us to the perfect spot when we were hunting for the northern lights. It was the very first stop we went to and already managed to catch the amazing spectacle. He was also very thoughtful in making sure that we did not have much difficulties exploring the area. There was also an instance where he noticed I was particularly interested in a church on the way to our next location. Observing how much I was staring at the church while we were on the road, he specially made a slight detour to visit it just so that I could snap some shots and have a look at it. That was very kind of him and I was very appreciative of that gesture.

The hotels picked by Iceland Unlimited were very warm and cosy. They were also very accessible and wheelchair friendly. The toilets were fitted with railings and handlebars which was very useful. Since they were situated essentially right in the middle of nowhere, it was very peaceful and quiet. We certainly had a good night’s rest and had an amazing continental breakfast the following day.

All in all, although the prices were still considered rather steep, it was slightly understandable since it was a private tour. However, it was worth every penny and I will always recommend Iceland Unlimited for travellers who require additional assistance. Thank you so much for making this trip a pleasant one and one I will remember in my heart for a very long time!

Agata, Lisa and team has been really great in helping us plan a near perfect 8 day ring road tour with an established tour operator in Iceland. They are prompt and patient in answering our many questions over a 8 month period, in the lead up to our first trip to Iceland. The logistics were done perfectly and everything is as planned. Prior to the trip, they have also sent us useful practical information on Iceland, a handy restaurant guide on possilbe cafes/restaurants at various parts of our ring roaf tour. On our arrival, they have also passed us a goodie bag with the full itinerary, printed and binded into a booklet for our ease of reference. We highly recommend you to choose Iceland Unlimited as your partner to plan out either your self-drive trips or guided tours on your next visit to Iceland.

Lisa was fantastic at Iceland unlimited! We had tours cancelled left right and centre due to the storm that hit. And she kept changing them all around so my daughter and I could enjoy the activities around the weather. Which was more than once! She even went out of her way, out of working hours to make sure we could enjoy our time in Iceland, by arranging our tours and making sure which tours and when.
The tours that we did manage to do were fantastic at a great price and well organised.we had a great time even though the storm affected a couple of days of our holiday.
Iceland unlimited is a great tour company to get the best out of Iceland with a first class service!!

Like most of the world, my travel plans for most of 2020 and all of 2021 had to be cancelled. My wife and I decided that 2022 would be the year we would return to travel. We received an article from a friend about Northern Iceland's Arctic Coast Way in the summer of 2021. After reading the article, I knew that I wanted to have an Arctic journey! Since we would be so close to Greenland, I wanted to incorporate a few days in Ilulissat. After doing some research, I decided to book the Greenland trip first and plan our time in Iceland around the trip Ilulissat. More research led me to Iceland Unlimited.

From the moment I first contacted Iceland Unlimited, I knew that I was in the hands of people who were masters of travel planning and customer service. I provided an outline of my proposed itinerary for Greenland. My assigned travel specialist was Agata; she was phenomenal throughout the planning and confirmation of my itinerary. Agata helped me plan a four day journey to Ilulissat, Greenland. She then advised that she would be able to also assist in planning an Iceland itinerary. Agata’s recommendations were excellent and incorporated hidden gems as well as our “must see” highlights. I was particularly impressed with Agata’s hotel recommendations for both Iceland and Greenland.

We were kept informed by email throughout the process and the itinerary was updated to include our requested activities and travel timetable for our 17 day journey. From Reykjavik to Akureyri to Siglufjörður to Mývatn to Raufarhöfn, lots of places in between, as well as Ilulissat, Greenland, Agata prepared an itinerary that included accommodations, car rental, our requested activities, as well as suggested activities that allowed my wife and I to have a well-paced Arctic adventure!

Once we arrived at our first hotel in Reykjavik, we were provided a “goodie bag” from Agata which included our final itinerary in a nice binder, a booklet of vouchers, maps, driving suggestions and other helpful items. Everything went smoothly--from hotel check ins, airline flights, car rentals and activities. Most importantly, there were no hidden or extra costs.

My wife and I love to travel and have been to many parts of the globe. Thanks to Agata and Iceland Unlimited, our 2022 Arctic Journey will be among our most memorable adventures!

We – family of four – went on a 2-week self-drive tour with a personalized itinerary focusing on the Westfjords, and with a few days on the south coast. Sotiria did a wonderful job organizing our route. We sent many emails back and forth, with Sotiria responding very promptly and making changes to suit our interests. All the hotels and other bookings were excellent, services everywhere at a high level, very welcoming. After a day in Reykjavik, we headed north and spent an entire day driving the Strandir coast. We spent 2 days in Isafjordur, where we went kayaking and hiking in Hornstrandir. Further stops were the Snaefellsnes peninsula and from there we headed for the south coast to see waterfalls and the newly erupting volcano Fagradalsfjall.
The restaurant recommendations – from Sotiria’s list – were all excellent. The advice to reserve a table – even if only a day or two in advance – was very good, as we noticed people being turned away at several places, especially in Reykjavik.
Since our experience with Iceland Unlimited on our first trip to Iceland in 2017 was positive, we chose to book with them again for this trip. Highly recommended!

We had an incredible week in Iceland and Iceland Unlimited helped my family have the magical experience that we did. We began planning our trip in the fall of 2019 and because of the pandemic had to reschedule our trip again and again. Iceland Unlimited was there for us the entire time. They were extremely responsive and communicative and set us up so well for the self-driving tour.

I think that now that I have been to Iceland, I could probably do a lot of the booking and planning myself but for a first time trip it was definitely worth the money. Plus, it just put our mind at ease to have someone who was looking out for us and for whom we could contact at anytime during our journey.
