Practically in tears of gratitude, Iceland Unlimited (5 Replies)
Just thought I'd add to the heaps of praise for Iceland Unlimited. We've been in Iceland just over a week, and today we took a short trip to Grimsey. After we arrived back in Akureyi, my 72 year old aunt realized she had forgotten her camera on the island. A quick couple of phone calls to Christina and Jon, and the camera was located. It is being shipped back to Reykjavik tomorrow. Jon offered to try to get us the camera for the rest of the journey, but we have a spare for my aunt, so...More

Iceland Unlimited or self planning? (4 Replies)
Hi: Looking into visiting Iceland for around 12 days. I always plan my trips (with lots of help from TA), but I was intrigued by reviews of Iceland Unlimited and their self drive tours. Since we'll be 4 instead of just dh and I, perhaps having a company plan the details would make life easier. Would anyone know what kind of mark-up a travel agency would use. Since our dollar is so low, I'm not sure we'd be able to afford the services of a travel agency. Thanks, Kay

You are always going to pay more for a middle man to do the leg work for you. Take one of the itineraries and adapt it to your needs. It is not hard to book rental cars or hotels. Or get them to give you a quote and then compare with your self planning cost. I don't understand why planning for 4 people would be that much more complicated.

Getting the most out of Iceland with 2 small children (4 Replies)
We have booked our flights to Iceland for the end of May and the itinerary is pretty much sorted. We are going to book a self drive tour with Iceland Unlimited. We are travelling with a 1 year old and a 4 year old, they are very well travelled little people and this is our opportunity to visit Iceland so we chose to go despite them being small. I am wanting advice and suggestions on how to do some of the great activities in Iceland with these guys in tow. We are wanting to do adult...More
