We took a one day tour with Omar and it absolutely was the highlight of our time in Iceland. We gave him a general idea of what we wanted to do and he put a custom trip together that was perfect for our family. We did all the top Golden Circle sites ourselves, so when we did the tour with Omar, we saw all the sites that we would have never been able to get to ourselves (and I mean literally since Omar drives what is effectively a monster truck) including a hike in Landmannlaugar. Right from the start of the trip, he was so friendly and knowledgable, it made the experience so much more meaningful. We learned a great deal that one day and Omar engaged with everyone from our family to make sure they felt included. We also packed the day with visits to a wide variety of sites, from lush waterfalls to lava field moonscapes, to a replica of a viking house (and Game of Thrones filming site), to an active volcano, to canyons and craters and an awesome hour and a half hike. We've done tours before, but its safe to say that no tour hosts have been as great as Omar. The combination of planning the perfect tour for us, getting to things we'd never have a chance to see otherwise and then Omar's skill at conversation and deep knowledge made it a special and unforgettable day!! If you are going to visit icelend, then I could not more strongly recommend a tour with Omar to get to see the real Iceland and come away a little bit smarter!

We recently enjoyed a private 7 day tour of Iceland for our family of 7. Having limited time, we concentrated on southern Iceland, the Golden Circle, and Thorsmork. As part of our vacation, we spent two days with Omar, touring in his heavily modified and luxurious 4x4. This enabled us to visit many sites that would be impossible with a typical vehicle. Omar was a fantastic guide, so knowledgeable in Icelandic history and culture. Every question was answered in great detail and it clear how much Omar is proud of his country and history. In addition to visiting Geysir and the many sites of the Golden Circle, Omar took us to our glacier snowmobiling excursion. This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. The experience of being on top of a mountain on top of a glacier, with the panoramic 360 degree views, was amazing. On our second day, Omar took us to Thorsmork, a rugged mountain ridge and valley that is best explored by 4x4. Omar was a great guide here, showing us many sites and leading us on hikes through the remnants of glacier lakes, glaciers, and waterfalls. His driving ability was appreciated as we negotiated river beds, streams, and the like. This was a beautiful part of Iceland that we would not have seen otherwise. We finished up our tour with a ride on the black sand beach near Vik which was also a lot of fun. It’s hard to imagine we could have enjoyed our time in Iceland more and Omar was one of the best guides we’ve had anywhere.

We were recommended Omar and Hlynur as guides for a photographic shoot which incorporated a glacier hike. It was important to me as the photographer to be on location early and the team at IC Iceland were very accommodating and flexible. Hlynur was well equipped and skilled in his craft, with all the necessary equipment and safety kit at hand - it was very professionally organised. They have an incredible fleet of vehicles to deal with any terrain which made the day more enjoyable as we were able to see some places which were not on the usual tourist list. Hlynur was hugely knowledgable about each location and his passion for Iceland and its culture was very evident and we learnt a lot. This was one of the best experiences I have had on a shoot. For their knowledge, professionalism, friendliness and ability to understand just what you are looking to see/achieve I can really recommend these guys.

Our family of 11 (plus one infant) traveled to Iceland this May 2018 for ONE week with IC Iceland and we had a fantastic experience. We booked a custom and private tour with Omar who was our tour guide. Omar is knowledgeable, friendly, sincere, accommodating, flexible, and has a great sense of humor. We would not have enjoyed Iceland as much as we did without him. Omar put together a realistic itinerary based on all our must-see items. He ensured that we were able to do the majority of the things we wanted to do in those 7 days while keeping in mind time, weather, having a large group like ours and having an infant on board. We started planning the trip together a few months in advance, and he was very open to making changes any time I wanted to add or delete something without getting annoyed or impatient. He even sent us maps to show us the distance that would be covered each day and booked our hotel rooms for us. Omar does tend to reply slowly via e-mail but there are two reasons for this; he is on tour with other families giving them his undivided attention and because he really makes the most detailed itinerary compared to all the other tour companies I had made inquiries with. Omar was accurate with dates and prices when he created his itineraries whereas other companies did. He took his time to perfect our itinerary and we saw this as we really enjoyed our time in Iceland. Throughout the trip, he was flexible based on how tired we were. He took us snowmobiling, ATV riding to the deserted plane, and hiking to some incredible waterfalls etc. Once, when he noticed that the weather was very nice (clear skies with light) he asked if we were up for glacier hiking despite it being 8pm. He personally took us on an incredible glacier hike and took some amazing photos of our group. The experience would not have been as good if the weather was bad, therefore we felt very lucky to make the most of the opportunity. What I really loved about Omar was his ability to understand our family and personalities. Whenever we were tired, he could sense it and would allow us to rest rather than talking while driving. Whenever we were awake, he would fill us in on all the history. When we stopped at various sights, he accompanied us only if we wanted him to or only if it seemed like guidance was necessary, otherwise he gave our family the freedom to go on our own and spend family/quality time. He really knows how to balance everything and understand his clients. Finally, when we went to the Blue Lagoon on our last day, Omar took care of my infant in the café so that our entire family could be together enjoying and relaxing. What a sweet man! Even my little girl loved him! I can't say enough about Omar and if you plan to travel to Iceland, it is a MUST to do it with a guide like Omar. We would not have appreciated Iceland as much as we did without him. Thank you Omar! We will definitely be recommending you to everyone we know!

We were introduced to the wonderful Omar by a colleague that had been on one of his tour earlier. And definitely no regrets. We contacted Omar 7-8 months ahead of the trip to start the planning. Actually, we basically told him we have six nights in Iceland in December and what would he suggest we do? In short order, he came up with some suggestions that included three nights outside of Reykjavik on the Golden Circle. The scenery were wonderful. The sights breathtaking. We had many first on this trip. From glacier walk to going into an ice cave to eating puffins, just to name a few. More importantly, Omar was patient and a wellspring of local history and knowledge. He’s patient in answering all our questions. And frankly one can easily get used to sitting atop his super truck. He has a new one coming, so be the first to ride on Omar3 or whatever he’s going to call it. He’s also prepared - from water to crampons etc. One can feel he’s doing this because he’s passionate about it. Omar is also conscientious and one feels entirely safe in his capable hands. Omar indeed embodies Iceland - friendly, knowledgeable, fiercely passionate about the country and always thinking for his guests. We definitely did not regret ditching our self-drive plan given what we have seen and done thanks to local knowledge and access via the super truck. What are you waiting for? Contact him now.
