About
Safari Quads is an ATV & Buggy tour operator located in Reykjavik, Iceland. Our company was established in 2003 making us the oldest ATV Quad tour company in Iceland! Our operation had quite a humble beginning; we set our first roots on a farm in the countryside of West Iceland. Our tours were rugged back then – we like to think of them as ‘vintage’, but this was the birthplace of our passion and that is one thing that has not changed. We aim to provide our guests with an authentic experience with intimate exposure to the fascinating spectacle that is Iceland´s natural landscape. We left the farmland behind in 2008 and returned to civilization in Reykjavik to set up our latest and greatest basecamp. We are now located under 15 minutes away from the heart of the city making our tours easily accessible to adventurous travellers. Reykjavik´s backyard has proven to be an alluring natural playground for our ATVs and buggies with pristine mountains and stunning lakes.

I accidentally booked and paid with Safari Quads thinking they were the organization closest to the Blue Lagoon. Fortunately for me, Bryndis Fossdal/Safari Quads not only caught my mistake, they refunded my money immediately and recommend another company to book with that I needed to be with. I sincerely appreciated this as it was money I didn't want to lose over an error and I loved that they helped out another company at the same time!

This was a totally amazing experience giving another view of the wonderful Icelandic countryside. I was a little anxious about it initially but all the guides were fantastic and made even a shaky driver like me confident. Reuben was totally amazing and guided me until I got a bit better by being nothing but encouraging and really patient throughout. Highly recommend this as an exciting, different and affordable excursion no matter your age or skill even on your first Iceland trip. My daughter is in her teens and loved it despite my driving!

Highly recommend Buggy tour with Safari.
Very professional & well organised
Our Guide Sir Catus was very friendly and informative.
Def need to be wrapped up in plenty of layers as ur toes and fingers and neck get cold
We made sunrise at the top which was spectacular

We originally had other plans on Christmas Day that had to be cancelled due to the eruption of the volcano. However, this was better than was we had planned and we had the most brilliant time. We did the two hour tour and we both had a bike each as neither of us were going to be happy if we weren’t driving! We saw some of the most brilliant sites as the sun rose and we finished up the tour going up a mountain onto the top of a glacier overlooking Reykjavik. If you can tell me a better way to spend Christmas, I would like to hear about it! Our guide Guillermo was very friendly and knowledgeable and we felt very safe and supported. We absolutely loved it. Thank you.

An amazing experience! A brilliant tour round some Icelandic scenery. Very knowledgeable and experienced guides (including you sir kaktaz!). It was my first time driving an ATV and the vehicles were excellent, easy to control and can take all the bumps. We went as a group of 4 and had the session to ourselves!

It was an amazing tour! Our guide, Sir Kaktuz was funny, personable, and enthusiastic! He gave great instructions so we were very comfortable when we took off on the ATVs. He gave us time when we reached the peak of our journey to take pictures and bask in the beautiful surroundings. He often slowed down to check that everyone was keeping up and that everything was going okay, so I always felt safe. He was also just a fun person to be around and made the whole experience unforgettable! Definitely my favorite excursion in Iceland - I highly recommend!!!

My husband and son had a terrific time on a 2 hour Twin Peaks ATV tour. This was their second experience with Safari Quads (previous trip was in 2016) and their service has remained just as impressive. They were picked up from the cruise terminal at the pre arranged time for the short drive to the ATV base. After receiving protective clothing, helmet and gloves they were off! The scenery was incredible and the extended tour included a visit to a beautiful lake which involved a variety of different terrains as well as the viewpoint overlooking the coast. They were then driven back to the cruise port at the end of the excursion. They are looking forward to another trip to Iceland to repeat the experience!

Insanely fun experience 15 minutes out of Reykjavík. This trip was really great despite the blizzard like conditions. Felt safe the entire time and the two guides were very attentive. They were able to accommodate our party of three last minute and we are glad they did. The trail was very scenic and especially pretty in the snow. It was made more challenging because of the bad weather, but on a clear day this would be nice for any experience level.

Devin? (hope I spelled it right) was fantastic! The whole two hour tour was great start to finish! He was friendly, patient and was happy to just kinda hang out and talk about interesting local stuff. Would definitely recommend taking the twin peaks tour over the one hour option. The more time spent on the quads the better! They should also give Devin a raise, he deserves it!

Our guide picked us up from our bus stop closest to our hotel, and was very nice and hospitable. It was our First time riding these ATVs but our instructors were great explaining the driving features and rules. We were equipped with everything needed to ride safely. Two instructors went out with us in bright orange suits so it was clear to tell who our safety guides were. The ride was just me and my friend so it was pretty cool. We stopped at two locations to see the views and the our guides even too pictures of us with the view! Overall the experience was awesome, the trails weren’t too hard but definitely not easy, but if we were able to ride them, anyone can enjoy this tour. Highly recommend to anyone looking to do something different but still with the Icelandic views!

What is the entire duration of this tour if we book the 1 hr quad tour? Trying to determine if I will make it back to my hotel in time to make my flight.

Depends where you’re staying. I was staying in hotel borgg in Reykjavik center. We left the hotel at 1.30 for 2pm pick up from the bsi terminal. We then arrived at the quad biking site at 3.30 and then arrived at the blue lagoon for 5pm. So in total with bus transfers 3.5 hours. If you rent a car or get a cab it will be considerably quicker. Hope I helped.

HI,
We do not offer Transport from the Airport but there is the flight bus that leaves every 40 min after each arrival flight, its very easy to take and not expensive. we could pick you up from some place in Downtown reykjavik where the bus drops you off, and we can take you there again after the tour and you can jump on the flight bus again :)
its about a 45 min drive to the airport from the city

If you pay for two squads, you have two. Of you pay for one, you go on the same one but you can switch and both drive.

Since you are travelling by yourself you have 2 options, either being single rider or if you do not want to drive yourself, we can put you as a passenger on the guides ATV.

Hello, we are a family of four with two kids ages 8 and 11. We are coming to Iceland this summer. I have two questions:
1. If we rent and ATV, will the boys sit behind us or in front? (Sorry, I have not driven ATV before).
2. If we rent buggy tour, do you recommend safari or mountains tour? Based on description, mountain buggy tour seems too advanced/scary? (Steel slope climbing etc). Thank you!

Thank you for contacting Safari quads.
Do operate the ATV & Buggies, you must have a valid driver license to drive. If you decide to go on an ATV tour the boys would sit behind the driver. However, If you pick Buggy the boys will sit next to you ;)
I would always suggest the 2 hr tour either on an ATV or Buggy. the 2 hr tour isour most popular tour :) & i am sure the boys would love it.

Are the quads suitable for for elderly people? One of our party is 72 and has had a hip replacement but is keen to go quad biking. just wondered how rough it might be. is it better to double him up on a 2 seater? thanks
