I went on the South Coast Tour and really enjoyed being able to get out of the city and seeing more of Iceland. It was a long day but it passed by quickly. The waterfalls were spectacular as was the beach.
The tour was in a minibus which is more personal than a massive coach and our tour guide was very knowledgeable. However the minibus was full and with it being rather wet weather, there were times when I felt rather crammed in and very soggy! I would definitely recommend checking the weather forecast before booking, although the Icelandic saying of 'If you don't like the weather, just wait 5 minutes' was very true. We went from beautiful sunshine and blue skies, to snow and hail in a space of 5 minutes at the glacier!
Overall a good day, but I'd be keen to go back in the summertime when there wasn't so much ice about and there is more access to the waterfalls. Regardless of the season make sure you take waterproof clothing!

This was a great day from start to finish. We were picked up promptly by "King" Siggi who was very friendly, informative and funny, giving us an excellent commentary on Iceland, its history, people and tales.
We visited two beautiful waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss, both stunning and well worth the visit.
A few of us were then dropped off to do the Glacier Walk with Icelandic Mountain Guides all the team were helpful and friendly, our glacier guide for the day was Macca, a great guide, making time for everyone in the group. We were only a group of nine which was lovely, as it made it a lot more personal, as we explored the glacier. It was an excellent introduction to glacier hiking and I would certainly recommend Icelandic Mountain Guides and would definitely book for a longer hike next time using this company. We were very lucky when we went as the weather was perfect, clear blue skies, a little chilly so wear layers and take waterproofs, we didn't need the wet weather gear but you never know. We were in Iceland for a three night break and this was a highlight of the trip. A great day tour. Thank You.

Couldn't possibly recommend GeoIceland enough. Big thank you to Dagur for our Golden Circle daytour - he was funny, incredibly knowledgeable and the special stop to see the Icelandic horses was a trip highlight. I'll always look for ravens as a sign of good luck. That night we hunted for the Northern Lights with Loki who was similarly extremely dedicated to giving us the best possible experience. We made several stops, had to continually reorient for better weather. Unfortunately we only got a small show but they did give us the opportunity to go again another night. And last but not least so grateful for an amazing day on the South Coast with Vilundur. It was my second trip with GeoIceland to the South Coast and I was little worried it might be repetitive but it was a completely different (and yet still familiar) trip. He was extremely generous with knowledge, giving us plenty of time to see the sights and to see as much as possible. He also took extra good care of the bus getting us home in some rough winds and snow. Can't wait to come back!

Wonderful small tour to see the Northern Lights. Our guide took care to explain the lights don’t always show up when we want them to, but he was taking us to a place that was away from the city lights while still being close to civilization. Sure enough, the lights showed up and intensified during the night.

Very organized tour with timely pick up. The tour was informative and also fun. Easily accessible for all ages.
I would recommend to do this tour especially because in the winter season it is hard to go without a guide in terms of safety.

We booked their aurora basecamp tour, and we loved every minute. The group was pretty small which gave the trip a more personal feel. Our guide was taking the tour for the first time after stepping in for a sick colleague but you’d never have known! He was super friendly and knowledgable and he seemed just as excited as us that we’d been lucky enough to see the lights! We’ve already recommend this operator to a couple of friends that are planning trips later this year.

Where to begin! We booked a package that included a northern lights trip, the golden circle and south coast. All these trips were fantastic. John Paul was brilliant and so knowledgeable on the Northern lights tour and our very own “Queen Bee” Berglind was just amazing. So knowledgeable, funny and kind! Highly recommend anyone take a tour with Geoiceland!

The South Coast small group day trip exceeded our expectations, the black beach really has to been seen to watch the huge waves hit the beach. We were warned in the mini bus to stay up the top of the beach and do not turn your back on the sea as often they’d be an extra big wave that could sweep you off your feet. We stayed up the beach but someone from another bus did exactly what they said do not do and they got knocked to their feet and were soaking wet on a -4 day! They did get a really good selfie with the waves behind them 🙄.
We loved everything about this trip, our driver was knowledgeable, funny and went out of his way to make sure we got the most out of our day.
We felt it was excellent value for money.

Our cruises were cancelled. Many of us are having great difficulty getting refunds from these folks for shore excursions we booked a year ago. Their website is inaccessible. Sounds like they provided great tours in the past, but now have taken our advanced payments and are going under.

As you are aware The company that Owned GeoIceland went bankrupt in late April 2020. Which was not only unfortunate for those travelers that had booked tours with the company, but also for the many employees and their families that relied on the operation.
In November 2020 former employees purchased the name and website of GeoIceland to be reopened in 2021. We will reopen the web soon and start operating tours again on June 1st.
We understand your frustration and we want to offer our assistance and support to resolve any issues that followed the bankruptcy. In order to do so we encourage you to reach out via our email or website.

Had a fantastic tour with Hal! This was my second time touring with this company and I would use them for a third. Very knowledgeable, interesting conversation and history shared during our tour. As an extra on our tour, we stopped by a lake to observe the stars and have hot chocolate and donuts. Really impressed with this company.

I was only there for 2 days. 1 day in the city, walking around, museums, etc. Recommend dinner at Messin restaurant. Day 2 on Golden Circle geoiceland mini-bus tour.

We did not do a snowmobile tour. However, several of the tours we reserved once we were in Iceland and spoke with hotel staff on their recommendations. They were even able to phone the company directly to book. I would wait until I was in Iceland or contact your hotel for recommendations

I am planning to visit Iceland in Feb 2019. I would like to do the glacier walk, see an ice cave, the northern lights, etc. I have some neuropathy and some balance issues but I am capable of walking (and live in a house with stairs) and my biggest problem is standing for very extended times. Will I be capable of participating in these activities? Thank you.

Hi Dear Deborah, this is little tough questions without more info. But the Northern Lights Tours will be no problem, The Glacier hike can be challenging for sure, and the Ice Cave would be very challenging. But something like the Ice Tunnel in Langjokull is much more accessible and I would recommend. I hope this helps.

Hi there, unfortunately we have very limited daylight at this time of year so a Golden Circle tour at that time would not be possible. We have departures on our regular Golden Circle tour at 09:00 am and then an express Golden Circle tour at 11:00 am. Perhaps you would like to do Northern Lights hunt on the evening of arrival:)

I’m just wondering how long do you stay at each location for? And if getting picked up from your hotel do you have to go to the bus terminal to transfer or straight on with the tour?

The answer from Angela J is very good. We do not pickup and then go to a terminal, you will be picked up by your guide for the day.
The stops are variable, from 30 min to over an hour, depending on location (and lunch time).

Both Golden Circle and South Coast start at 9am, pickup starts at 8.30am.
Regarding weather, we recommend you have a waterproof light jacket, but maybe a sweater or some base layers as well. It can get chilly when it is raining and windy.
