I can’t say enough good things about Bjarni Gaukur (BG) and our tour. I was part of an eleven person group that did an eight day tour around Iceland. BG was our tour guide and driver, and all around expert on any questions that we had.
He was an excellent and safe driver ensuring breaks to stretch, use facilities, and/or get a coffee or snack. The bus was comfortable and he broke up all the driving by answering questions or telling us history about what we were seeing. He allowed plenty of time at each stop and we never felt rushed.
Most importantly though BG is smart, kind, and funny. He went out of his way to ensure that everyone got the most out of the tour and really connected with each person in the group.
Most impressive was his organization. Every evening we would get the itinerary for the following day and weather forecast. He’d also review all of the stops we’d made that day and include a map of where we had traveled.
Iceland is a beautiful country with a rich history, BG enhanced all parts of the trip with his knowledge and stories. I could not have imagined a better tour guide!

Spent a week with BG going across the southern coast of Iceland, saw and learned so much!! I feel honored to have had BG as a tour guide. He was professional, personable, and able to accommodate the range of needs for our group that had people from their 20s-mid 80s. He kept an eye out on the best time for us to see the Norther Lights, took us to the best food spots and educated our group on all things Iceland. BG is as good as it gets!!! Thank you BG!

Had a wonder experience with Thor Travel with our guide Bjarni when we wanted to visit the active Fagradalsfjall volcano. Although the weather did not cooperate and we were in a time crunch due to scheduling, Bjarni was accommodating, friendly, entertaining, knowledgeable, and looked after us while we traversed the challenging terrain to get as close to the volcano as possible based on the rainy and foggy conditions we experienced. If you are visiting Iceland, highly recommend Thor Travel with Bjarni!

We didn’t take part on a trip with Thor travel but encountered Bjarni in one of our last nights in Iceland while traveling around the island. Without a second thought Bjarni offered himself to take a couple of beautiful fotos of the Aurora and us! The fotos were amazing and the talk with Bjarni was really entertaining. We don’t have any doubts that the service provided by Bjarni and Thor Travel must be outstanding and for sure will be contacting him on our next visit to Iceland, because for sure we are coming back!
Thank you so much again for the beautiful fotos and we wish you all the best! For the people considering traveling the island with Thor Travel, we cannot do anything else but to recommend doing it with them!

This tour was amazing and Bjarni was a very kind and knowledgeable tour guide! He shared interesting facts about all the sights we saw as well as personal stories and tips and tricks to enjoy the beautiful landscapes even more. When we had extra time he added "surprise stops" that were some of the highlights of the trip for me!
He took great pictures of my mom and I and sent them to us for no additional fee! Additionally some other tourists not part of our group saw the photos and asked him to take some of them as well, which Bjarni happily did! You can tell this man is passionate about what Iceland has to offer and shares it wonderfully with tourists!
I left something at one of the first hotels we stayed at, and Bjarni was kind enough to contact someone at the hotel ASAP and I was able to get my item back before the tour was over!

This is the last day of my Iceland Complete Tour and Bjarni Gauker Thormundsson was the best tour guide ever. Hands down!! My tour was 7 people and we immediately became friends sharing photos and stories. BJ made this 10 day tour an experience I will never forget. As a tour guide he is extremely knowledgeable, funny, responsible and kind. I just can't say enough and wish every guide had his attributes.

We booked our travel through Discover Scandinavia Tours and were blessed to have Iceland based Thor Travels as our in-country guide and host. I cannot say enough about Bjorni (BG) and the experiences provided. My son and I spent a week with one other couple making this a perfect small group excursion. This trip lit a fire for this amazing country. I so strongly recommend Thor Travel for a small group experience. BG kept us ahead or away from the large tour bus crowd as much as possible which enhanced our enjoyment. If you even THINK you want to visit, DO IT! it is so much better than imagined.

We had an incredible experience with Thor travel! We are a family group of six, and we toured with Thor Travel for six days in Iceland. Having a tour guide who can trace his ancestry to the original Viking settlers of Iceland, and who spends all of his free time in the back country of Iceland guaranteed an incredibly fun and rewarding trip for our family!

BG IS THE BEST!! We absolutely loved our experience. I love Iceland because I loved our tour guide. If you want a personal, flexible experience with an honest and fun guide, book with Thor Travel! We can’t stop talking about how fun it was :)

Did the Landmannalaugar hiking and waterfall tour and it was hands down, no question the best of all the tours I did in Iceland, and one of the best I've ever done anywhere. If I only had one day in Iceland, this is the one I'd go for, it was insanely incredible. Tom was a fantastic guide and loads of fun (plus, took the best video!), and the scenery was out of this world, absolutely stunning. A proper adventure, and just so so completely worth it.
