Excellent trek with beautiful scenery. Guide (Jono) was well informed and great at managing group dynamics. Food was delicious and exceeded my expectations. Be prepared for snow! Huts were great but toilets sometimes a little far from hut. Some huts were cramped with narrow beds....More

All good, safe, well paced. Rustic but well protected huts. Good food. Time to relax at end of day (helped by great weather).

My sister and I just completed the 6 day trek in tents. We have both done multiple hikes including the Inca Trail and Mount Kilimanjaro and we enjoyed this trek the most! The landscape is breathtaking and changes very quickly. Our guide François was excellent-...More

Our 6-day hike with Trek Iceland, under the expert guidance of Frimann, was wonderful. I can't recommend it enough. I'm writing this to provide info on the huts we used, so folks know what to expect. The four huts we used: Hrafntinnusker hut: 18 people...More

Two friends and me booked the 6-days-Trek Laugavegur and Fimmvörðuháls with Arctic Adventures. We exspected a small group and were suprised that there were 50 people in the bus (different groups together). The trek startet in Landmannalaugar. We hoped, that we could take a short...More

The trek itself is fantastic and the variety of scenery that is encountered is amazing. This is highly recommended as a bucket list experience. This was made all the better by our excellent guide, Juraj. He was a laid back, but competent leader for our...More

I signed up for the 4 day Laugavegur trek. Was lucky that my whole group was travelling solo so everyone was really friendly and open. It was a mixed bunch of people. I felt like you could go whatever pace you wanted as the group...More

Hi there, thanks for contacting. I would recommend the 3 day tours in Þórsmörk or Landmannalaugar. Both are using huts and it's not difficult hikes. For a more challenging one you could do the 4 day Laugavegur in huts... More

There were no portable toilets along the way - I think our guide had plastic baggies just in case nature called. I always had a 1L of water with me. Enjoy!

Trek iceland tours (4 Replies)
Hi, has anyone experience on the ice cave day tour with the company Trek Iceland? Are they reliable? I know some others (local, extreme, guidetoiceland) are recommended, but their places are also limited. Many thanks in advance.

All these comapanies have review sites: Trek: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Revie… Extreme Iceland: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Revie… Guide to Oceland: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Revie… Local (several use the term so this is just a guess): https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Revie… - What do you mean by "limited places" ? That they all go to similar sites ? Or that they have limited seating places for passengers ?

Tour Guides for Laugavegur and Fimmvörðuháls (4 Replies)
Hi Everyone, I’m planning a guided trek on the Laugavegur and Fimmvörðuháls for next summer, July or August. I have been looking at tour guides and have some questions: 1. I’ve looked at companies like Extreme Iceland, Trek Iceland, Tour.is, and Arctic Adventures. The itineraries for these companies are almost exactly the same, almost word for word. Why is this….are they all part of the same company? And although all of these include Fimmvörðuháls, none of them clearly state that they...More

1. Operated by Trek. Advertized by Trek's partners (who also sell for the others mentioned). 2. You'll have to compare the set of included stuff carefully, and I guess make your own decission. Both comapnies are highly professional. 3. I'm sure these or other hikes to that area are operated on more days of the week... :)

Horseback Riding (8 Replies)
Hi, I'm looking for a day horseback riding tour through Landmannalaugar - I can't seem to see any short tours that go there? I found a hike on Trek Iceland that we'll do if we can't find a horseback riding tour but it seems ridiculously expensive at £142 per person including transport? Thanks, Amanda

Horse riding through Landmannalaugar? From where and to where? Landmannalaugar is in the highlands, pretty far from any ranches or horse rentals.
