I highly recommend all free walking tours! Specially this one! Our guide Erik was amazing, you could ask him anything and he’d answer without a problem. Very interesting facts about this amazing country

This tour was very informative. We walked around for 1 1/2 hours seeing most of the local sights and then getting information on other things to do. Tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable.

We have done many "free tours" with many guides in our trips abroad. And this was one of the better ones. Erik the guide, a history graduate, was an excellent guide with a good balance between serious facts and light notes. If we had to criticise it would be that it felt somewhat shorter than several we have had But a very good tour nevertheless

Expecting to be bored..... I was soooooo wrong!. Eirik was funny. He was smart and entertaining. Our 1 hour 45 minute tour was so interesting. The tour started at Parliament Square across the street from Althingi Parliament House in Reykjavik. Surprisingly, we stayed within a few blocks of this site. We did not walk to the church on the hill, Hallgrimskirkja. There was history and interesting facts. This well paced tour allowed for pictures and questions, but not a bathroom break. Ask where you can refill your water bottle if you run out of water. Don't buy bottled water. I have been to Reykjavik several times not wanting to do a tour. Now, when I return I am definitely going to do another tour with a different guide. This is a must-do activity. It is free. The guide works for tips. It is better and more polite to tip in Icelandic Krona than USD or the Euro.

When traveling to a place we haven’t been, we seek out a walking tour for a soft landing to get acclimated, learn about history, customs, language and general lay of the land. Due to the uncertainty of when we might receive the results of our COVID tests, unfortunately we were not able to schedule it in on the front end of our trip. Since we had a couple of days to wind down after our tour around the Ring Road before heading home, we were able to book the Free Walking Tour. We are glad we did as our tour guide was very informative. We learned about the history, people and culture and some of the nuances of this beautiful country. Our tour guide was witty and spoke English extraordinarily well. We highly recommend taking the tour at the beginning of your stay if at all possible to help you get acclimated and your wheels underneath you when you arrive in Iceland.
