First off this goes from Gullfoss which is an hour and a half out of Reykjavík- you will need to book a rental car or bus through reception or the tourist office. The tour starts off with a monster coach an hour to the winter ❄️ base, it’s a bumpy ride! Once you get there they kit you out with everything you need we wore our own salopettes and 66north coats so only needed helmets. We unfortunately couldn’t go to the ice cave because the conditions were not safe but they took us off in a small group which was amazing and beautiful and such huge fun we had excellent guides who really look after you and tell you to lean with the skidoo and they mean it move your arse!!!!! Totally worth all the time and effort great guys loved it and worth every penny xxxx

We got picked up in a Mercedes with monster wheels. Our guide Pali was very informative. The highlight was a snowmobile journey along the Langkovull glacier. Awesome views. But the snowmobile steering is heavy and after tipping over once, we realised you lean into the slope to balance. The ice cave was an interesting feature. Afterwards, we went for a swim in a Secret Lagoon which was heavenly. The warm water was lovely on tired muscles after the snowmobile drive.

So good to hear about your experience and even better that this was the highlight of your Xmas tour here in Iceland. The Snowmobile can be tricky, to begin with, but you seemed to have got the hang of it pretty soon.

My grandson and I rode snowmobiles on the glacier with you this last week, and it was absolutely the best. My 17 year old grandson said that it was the coolest thing he had ever done. I don't know what the name of our particular tour was, as it was booked by our guide as we did a whirlwind 7 turned into 8 day tour of Iceland filled jam packed with everything every day. I would absolutely recommend Mountaineers of Iceland. My grandson may be submitting an application to work for y'all!

The afternoon tour (2pm) ran over an hour late. At this time of year, it gets dark at 3.30pm and given it’s an hour to get to the base camp, it is unacceptable to run a tour that late at this time of year with no warning or communication. We were waiting in the freezing temperature outside Gulfoss car park.

Once we arrived around 4.15pm it was getting very dark and we saw nothing on the tour. In addition, we didn’t get to the ice caves. They didn’t formally communicate this and did not adjust the pricing. Overall an awful experience and whilst driving a snowmobile on a glacier should a fun experience with amazing views, it lacked almost all of this. For £170+ pp, this operator should really think about whether they should still provide tours on this basis.

Dear Jimmy, I'm very sorry to hear about your overall experience during our tour. Weather can sometimes be challenging during the winter season and can cause delays. I agree that we could advise on the website that there is early sunset during winter months. I will let our management know about this criticism. Communication from our staff should have been much better. We value your criticism and we will make sure to learn from this Best regards, Einar Mountaineers of Iceland

We booked the tour online easily.new made our way to the meeting point and boarded the monster truck style bus for the journey up the mountain. The bus was packed and the seats are tiny, especially for my husband who is 6ft 5. So make sure you get there early to get a seat with your loved ones or you’ll probably sit apart as they cram you in! The journey up the mountain was about an hour.

Once there we had quite a wait before our tour as they were running behind. Probably due to the bad weather as the snow was mega heavy. We geared up with the suits and helmets which the staff help with. Then we had to stand outside in the snowmobile hut for a good half hour. Nowhere to sit, so if you have mobility problems you will struggle.

We finally set off about 45-60 minutes after we arrived. It was good fun, but the visibility on our tour was shocking. We could barely see anything as the snow and low cloud were so thick. It was quite scary at some points.

The guides were really nice, especially the Norwegian guide whose name I can’t remember.

All in all it was a good trip. Something to tick off the bucket list. Things to make it better would be a decent waiting area. Maybe hot chocolate on the stop over up the mountain as the ten minutes we stopped for were a bit pointless as there was nothing to see and it was freezing.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed your snowmobiling tour and found our staff to be helpful and friendly. We're sorry to hear that you found the journey up the mountain to be uncomfortable, especially for your husband. We will take your feedback into consideration as we continue to improve our services. We understand that the wait time can be frustrating, especially if the weather is bad, and we'll try our best to minimize any delays in the future. We appreciate your suggestion of having a hot chocolate stopover and will definitely consider this for future tours. Thank you for choosing our company for your snowmobiling experience and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.

The tour was good! We were in a group of 4. We each had our own snowmobile. I say the tour was good and not great because we all have experience on off road vehicles and the tour was very relaxing and the group was huge so we had to go as fast as the slowest person. I would say any beginner or first timer can do it. The total amount of ride time was about 45 minutes. If you are an experienced rider i would say to go with the other tour they have if it’s available which is more adrenaline and less relaxing lol. I believe it’s called gold rush or something rush! We would of preferred that one but there wasn’t enough snow for the different snow mobiles and we didn’t want to miss out on the experience! It was nice to ride to the glaciers and the super jeep tour to the snow mobile location was nice! Shoutout to Emil our guide! He was awesome!! he took amazing photos of us during our 10 min rest stop! He also saved me from my fake snow gloves! my fingers felt like they were going to fall off! i thought i had good gloves but i guess not! Bring leather or wool gloves!

They cancelled our tour because of the weather. But, the sun was shining and it was beautifull weather. We saw pictures from people the same day, they could go. Why only cancel the five of us? We booked this months before and the rest of the week was fully booked, so we couldn’t go another day they said. Just a worthless company. Do not book with them if you do not want to be empty handed hours before the trip!!

I'm sorry we had to cancel on you, however it wasn't just you. We canceled 90% of the tours on that day due to the weather forecast. The forecast for the day was not good and therefore we decided to cancel to give people the opportunity to reschedule their day. This decision was based on the information we had available from the Icelandic Met Office.

Really well organised setup. Massive all-terrain coaches picked us up on time, and navigated the snowy tracks up to the glacier. When we arrived at base camp we were all escorted into the kit room where we were decked out in warm, waterproof overalls and helmets, then shown the snowmobile controls before saddling up on our own steeds.

The snowmobile drive lasted around an hour, with a short stop halfway to take photos, swap drivers, make snow angels or chat to the guides, before heading back to base camp. The drive was at a sensible pace, with guides at the front and back of the pack. It was cold and windy, but so much fun! An experience we'll probably never have again.

Ours was a monster bus onto the glacier. The staff didn't want to know and we were sent to an old machine. It eventually creeped onto the glacier for about 40 minutes. Sadly the weather was terrible, foggy and windy at the same time. Apparently it's like that most of the time but they don't want to put you off. It was an experience and I enjoyed the ride up there. You can see how the glacier has shrunk on the way but you can spend your money better. I would snowmobile instead

We drove ourselves to the Base Camp 35 mins north from Gullfoss. Weather was fantastic with blue sky. We drove around on the snow mobile for an hour an also visited an ice cave. Absolutely breathtaking views and good fun to drive the mobiles.
