At The Cinema, Old Harbour Village No2, are shown quality Icelandic nature films; volcanoes, northern lights, flora and fauna. The Cinema is located in the loft of an old fishermen´s dwellings, where the fishermen used to mend their nets, tar their boats, salt their fish and overnight in bed bunks. Redoing the loft the atmosphere of the old life was kept as much as possible, even so that the salt smell still lingers, but the main object was to provide ideal settings for showing quality Icelandic nature and documentary films. By reading the reviews of our visitors on The Trip Advisor pages it seems that we are having success ...

Walking around the old harbor we noticed the "Cinema No. 2" sign and decided to check it out - up the stairs was a comfortable viewing room where we watched 2 documentaries on Iceland's volcanoes. The director / business owner was there and shared a lot of background, he was very friendly! Great way to spend a relaxing couple of... More

We had time between the end of our whale watching tour and dinner, and saw this place along the harbor, so we decided to investigate. We bought tickets for 2 movies that were filmed by an Icelandic director who owns the business. He was there during our visit so that was cool. The movies were wonderful and captivating. We sat... In the old harbour (one of green buildings) offers the excellent cinema. You enter and go up to the first floor , enter a place that makes you feel like at home. Sometimes you can be alone so you get like private cinema. They show 2 documentaries - one is with images of Eyjafjallajökull eruption and northern lights chase- and... More

We had late morning coffee in the cafe next door, then wandered into the cinema. Up a steep staircase into an old sail loft converted with comfy chairs and sofas into a place where we could see the elusive aurora and the frightening, awe-inspiring power of Icelandic volcanic eruptions from 1973 to 2012. As a group of 7 we had... More

They served food and drinks while we relaxed in the lovely little room with comfy sofas. The films were really interesting and the owner even made the films himself. I would highly recommend visiting this attraction.

I decided to go and visit the Cinema as soon as I saw it on the Reykjavik city web site, because it appeared to be really interesting So it did! I have just been there and the videos are really nice and suggestive, what's more entirely made by the owner and her wife! If you would like to go a... More

My friend and I dedicated our first day in Reykjavik to exploring the city we were calling home for 5 nights! We set on visiting 'The Cinema' in the mid-afternoon for a showing of a couple of films. The set is lovely and comfortable, full of seats and sofas, albeit a little chilly. The films were so informative and as... More

Thank you so much Emily for taking the time to write a review; we truly appreciate it! We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your visit and talk to the filmmaker. Yes, we know it can be a bit chilly here when it is really cold and windy outside, as it is a very old house, but we usually... More

We arrived three hours before the film was due to screen but the owner gave us a special screening. The cinema was cosy and furnished with old comfy leather couches and it was like sitting in a favourite armchair at home. He was very interesting and told us many facts about Iceland and in fact told us where to see... More

We crept up the stairs and watched two beautiful films on the northern lights and the latest eruptions. The two lasted about half an hour. We had hot chocolates and heart shaped cookies brought to our candle lit table and we sat on the comfy leather sofa chairs while we watched. What a treat, luxury compared to some things we... More
