My wife and I are photographers and Stefan was recommended to us by a fellow photographer. Stefan was great. He has a deep knowledge of Icelandic history and culture. He was always friendly, upbeat and positive in his outlook. Stefan did an excellent job of getting us to beautiful sites at the right time of day or night to ensure that we captured our shots. He made special arrangements with our ice cave guide to ensure that I had all the time I needed to get uncluttered photographs. We both highly recommend Stefan for those looking to go beyond the typical Iceland tour. Highly recommended!

Thank you very much for this kind review. I know your real name and it is not Husky Deke :-) It was a great pleasure to show you around and to share stories and experiences. I see on facebook you got some great photos in Iceland. Great! Happy travels.

We had the best experience with George on a private bike tour. He showed us all the major sites in Reykjavik (the perfect way for us to get the inside scoop to return and explore during our weeklong stay in the city). George also showed us a few cool, local spots and was beyond generous with both his time and his fantastic, unparalleled insights into Icelandic culture, city living, and European history. Definitely add a bike tour with Reykjavik Bike Tours to your itinerary, even if you don't think of yourself as a "biker." I was a little nervous since I am not the most active person, but Stefan met us at the store and made sure I had the best possible bike, helmet, etc. George went at the perfect pace, always adjusting so my husband and I could have a great time. We saw the most beautiful vistas in the city and learned so much! This was a birthday present for my (biker) husband and it turned out to be the perfect gift for us both. 10 out of 10 recommend.

I reached out via WhatsApp requesting electric assist bicycles to rent the next day. Less than 24 hours. Not only was the prices handled entirely over WhatsApp (making it extremely easy to communicate) but the service we received was impeccable.
When our cruise ship arrived, at the "new" terminal, we grabbed a cab over to the "old" terminal - my mistake in not realizing the fact that we were at different ports but a quick taxi and we were there. Less than 15 minutes from the ship to the shop. Our bikes were ready and waiting for us. We were provided a map with sample routes to tour, helmets and locks.
It was a great way to see the city. I used the electric assist more than hubs. Reykjavik is extremely bicycle friendly with designated bike lanes in many locations.
We would rent with Reykjavik Bike Tours again and would recommend them to anyone looking for an active way to tour the town at your own pace.

We booked a cycle tour of Reykjavik with Stefan in early June, which due to timing turned out to be a private tour for the two of us. We had already seen quite a bit of Reykjavik on foot over the previous two days, so Stefan took us to some parts that we hadn’t seen, such as Hordi (Reagan and Gorbachev meeting location), the Botanic gardens, the football stadium and the city’s heated swimming pool. We did also cycle through the city centre and see the oldest bit of Reykjavik and the Parliament, and Stefan would no doubt spend more time there and up at the Halgrims Church if you had just arrived in town.
The location of the bike shop is easy to find, and there is free parking right there. The bikes were great and Stefan picked an easy route and we moved at a gentle speed. That said you see so much of the city in 3 hours compared to being on foot. Stefan has lived in Reykjavik all his life and is an expert on all aspects of the city and Iceland as a whole, but is also very interested to get to know you. His English is first class and he is good fun to spend time with, and he has great recommendations on other attractions and places to eat.
We make a point of doing bike tours in any city we visit, and we would rate the Reykjavik Bike Tour as one of the best we have done, great value for money.

Thank you so much for the kind words :-)
It was a great pleasure to show you a part of the city I was born in and love to live in. We used to do scheduled tours for many years but when the demand dropped due to Covid in 2020 we decided to do only private tours.
Although we're expecting twice as many tourists in Iceland this year compared to last year, we are still far from the numbers of tourists we had before the pandemic started.
It is a great privilege to get to cycle around Reykjavik with wonderful people like you. I love telling people about Reykjavik, its history and culture, and use a bicycle to get around quickly and comfortably.
Thank you for making this possible for me.
Happy cycling!

We booked the Coast of Reykjavik tour for a group of 8. George was a great guide, full of knowledge about the history and let us see some of that patented Icelander sense of humor, re-telling some of the history with very funny additions. The ride was totally safe, and out group included folks who ride all the time down to folks who had not ridden in 10 or more years.
We saw many of the sites in town, and then rode down the coast to the old lighthouse and back, getting a good mix of urban and scenic views. George kept an easy pace and was very safety-conscious, always careful to make sure we all made it across the few intersections we had to cross. Riding is a great way to see a new city - this is the fifth national capital where we have taken a bike tour, and this may be the best one yet.

The staff were super efficient, and gave us a good briefing on using the E bikes, issued a helpful a map, and also a lock and safety helmet. The E bikes were superbly maintained and gave a comfortable ride. I highly recommend this form of transport which gives an opportunity to see all of the city highlights. Thanks Stefan

I did the private Reykjavik bicycle tour with tour guide George. He was a very knowledgeable and kind guide, who could tell lots of entertaining stories, accompanied by epic body language. He was also very good at indicating crossings and other things to watch on your cycle so I felt very safe. He went above and beyond duty by showing me an extra beautiful place at the end of the journey, which gave a great view over Reykjavik. I think cycling is such a fantastic way to get to know a new city. Now I feel much more comfortable navigating it on my own. Thanks so much!

Great fun to cruise around the capital with these comfy bikes. We got a city map and tips with the most beautiful corners of Reykjavik. Highly recommend to explore the city by bike since you get to see so many beautiful spots a bit further out of the center.

My husband and I really enjoyed our bike tour. Stefan did a great job customizing the tour based on on what we had already seen / wanted to see next. I was a little worried about the rainy weather, but he was really flexible with the day and time, and he picked a great time based on the forecast (and thank you for loaning me warmer gloves!). Doing a bike tour was a great way to see the city

We rented 3 mountain bikes and bike bags for 5 days. The bikes were in a splendid condition and have been personally checked and prepared by Stefan. (Service was marvellous, we had Stefan's number and he offered us to send spare parts by bus if we would run in a bigger problem)
Thanks to that we didn't have any problem on our road trip even on tougher road conditions.
Would savely recommend renting there!

Dear Stefan,
I would like information.
I intend to go to Iceland in April next year (if the vaccine is already available) and I would like to know if it is possible to go to Thingvellir Visitor Center by bike or if there is a tour with for that.
Best regard.

Hello! My family and I will be in Iceland from 6/30 through July 8. We have two adults, a 7 year old and 6 year old. Do you have tandems for the children to ride behind the adults or a drag behind?
Karen

Hello Karen,
Thank you for asking and sorry for the late reply. To be honest I don't check TripAdvisor very often. And we're kind of in slow motion right now too as we have had no tours at all since 11 March due to Covid19. The answer to your question is that we have a couple of solutions. We have some children's bicycles, we have at least one tag along bicycle, maybe two I forgot, and a trailer for children, and couple of baby seats. And we have one Weehoo tag along which is quite comfortable for the child. The child is strapped in. Please send us an email if you make it to Iceland this summer and want do do a bicycle tour of Reykjavik. We'd love to be a part of your stay here in Iceland. Stefan

We (2 people) will be in Reykjavik May 7-9. What kind of bike tour could we do with you?
Written April 24, 2018
They have several bike tour options on their website. We did the city tour on two different visits and enjoyed both.

Hi Stefan. I’ll be visiting November 16-19th. Is this too late in the year to consider a bike tour/ride? I’m an avid road cyclist in California and would love to get some “Strava mileage” recorded in Iceland!
Written October 27, 2017
Hello Miguel, thank you for asking. The weather is quite changeable this time of the year. If there is ice on the roads it is not safe to cycle long distances at high speeds. I'd say there is 50/50 chance you'll get a ride in. It is usually quite all right to cycle around Reykjavik all winter but I would not ride at high speeds when the road conditions are icy. Contact us on our email address if you'd like to rent a bike. Stefan

M wife and I are available on October 23-26. I there any tours then? If so should we bring our bike shoes? What kind of biking is availble?
Written October 17, 2016
call Stefan and ask him. he is very helpful. I brought shoes and pedals but it obviously depends on what distance you are doing. we did the ride around the lake which is about 60 km and I was glad I was riding clipless.

What is the time frame of the bike tours? Prescheduling activities for our short visit next month. Looking for some short activities that allow my girls time to explore on their own too.

how much does it cost when does it start where are you
Written October 12, 2015
Best is to consult our website for the latest prices, tour schedule and starting place.
But in short, the tours are quite affordable and bicycle rental is even less expensive. We are at Aegisgardur 7, 101 Reykjavik. This is in the Old harbour area next to the whale watching companies.
Written October 19, 2015
where do we pick up our bikes, what time does it start , how much does it cost
Written October 12, 2015
Hi,
We're at Reykjavik's Old Harbour. The street is called Ægisgarður and we're number 7. It is a rather informal street with sheds. At the top of the street there is a burger place and Icelandair Marina hotel. Then two whale watching companies and then us.
You'll find a map with our location on our website...
We're open all year but this time of the year (October) we're only at the shop by appointment and for booked tours.
If you're interested in joining our tour, please let me know.
Stefan
