Pros: The trail was gorgeous and relatively secluded, passing through a lava field and several fields of flowers. The horses were relatively well trained and seemed well cared for. Cons: The tour itself was disorganized and had very little communication. For our tour, they did...More

I am so impressed by the organization of Ishestar: answering questions before hand, money transfers, etc. Then the tour itself: the leaders, guides, the mobile kitchen staff, the horses--were terrific. This is a remote tour and the places we stayed were small farm houses with...More

Friendly staff, good quality kit, gorgeous, gentle horses. We were split into ability groups which meant that more experienced riders like myself were able to stretch the horses legs a bit. Some amazing trails with incredible views. Catered for all abilities from absolute beginner. A...More

Is Hestar was a great experience for my group of beginner/advanced beginner riders. The tour was fun, the scenery was beautiful, and the horses were darlings. But what impressed me most was Is Hestar's commitment to safety. Despite the fact that there were about 40...More

We wanted a ride for everybody from 5 to 72. We were introduced to the horses(mine was named"beer"). All rest were Icelandic names with translations, but I felt confident with the staff and taking care of the youngest one. Long enough for us. Good for...More

The only negative at this place is its popularity. Horses and beautiful, happy and obviously well cared for. The guides are horse lovers and take pride in their work. We did the full Viking tour and although it's expensive it was great. Lunch was generous...More

Even in a rainy day this is something you have to try. The cost was 9000 Icelandic about $115 totally worth it. They supply rain gear and helmets and if you have never ridden an Icelandic horse you have to try it is such a...More
