About Icelandic Mountain Guides
Icelandic Mountain Guides is Iceland's premier adventure tour operator. The company was established in 1994 by four young outdoor enthusiasts with a passion for nature, travel and environmental advocacy. These pioneers aimed to introduce the wonders of Icelandic nature to travelers from all over the world. We started by offering Glacier Walks in Skaftafell and later on Solheimajokull glacier. Hiking, backpacking and other adventures and expeditions in Iceland and Greenland soon followed. Today, Icelandic Mountain Guides offers adventure tours ranging from short day tours to longer multi-day expeditions in the great outdoors in both summer and winter. So whether it is the exploration of the icescapes of glaciers and ice caves, crossing of impressive highlands, trekking in the extraordinary rhyolite massifs or hiking in fascinating valleys, our aim is to Make Every Moment an Experience.

Buckle up your hiking boots for a 5-day version of Iceland’s famous Laugavegur trek from Landmannalaugar. On a 35-mile (56-km) route that takes in lava fields, mountain glaciers, and bubbling hot springs, you’ll trek through some of the county’s most remote wilderness and stay overnight in mountain huts. It’s a treat for adventurous souls and fit trekkers who are aged at least 14 years old.

While many tours in Iceland make pit stops at glaciers—the country is, after all, full of them—fewer take you over them and close enough to discover their interesting features. With this tour, take an easy glacier hike to see ice formations, crevasses, and water cauldrons that you’d miss just stopping for a look. Your climbing crampons are provided, and the guided hike is offered 2-3 times a day so it’s easier to fit into your schedule.

Hello and thank you for the question. If you have the time, I recommend stopping in Skaftafell. The surroundings are stunning and the area is part of Vatnajökull National Park (Vatnajökulsþjóðgarður).
