Majestic, but seems like a spring-summer excursion

I'll preface by saying that this was an amazing excursion that I loved and the views/stops were breathtakingly beautiful. However, the roads were very icy (tour was 11/23/16) and... read more

I travelled on this day tour on the 23 Nov, expecting to see the wonderful sights of west Iceland. It was quite a huge disappointment.... perhaps it was the winter season, but can't emphasise how disappointed I was. Didn't even get to see Kirkjufell. West Iceland is probably more spectacular in spring/summer as mentioned by one reviewer. Otherwise, don't bother... More

I'll preface by saying that this was an amazing excursion that I loved and the views/stops were breathtakingly beautiful. However, the roads were very icy (tour was 11/23/16) and there were a few potential stops that could not be accessed due to the recent weather. It seems to me that it would be best enjoyed in spring or summer, but... More

The is a long day of driving but we loved it. The scenery is amazing and there are a lot less tourists than other tours. We were lucky enough to be on a small bus uncrowded bus for our day. Our guide Svana was entertaining and knowledgeable. The cafe we stopped at for lunch was tasty but expensive, bringing something... More

This is a 12 hour trip. About 8 hours are spent sitting on the bus. About 2 hours are spent at gas stations for bathroom breaks and snacks. Only 2 hours are spent walking around and taking photos. The lunch break restaurant is okay but the entrees (meatballs or fish stew) cost about $25 U.S. The food at the gas... More

First a BIG thank you for driver and guide IAN from Gateway to Iceland Tours who drove us around the peninsula which I only can describe as otherworldly. Memorable stops we made at Borgarnes, Gerduberg (basalt culumns), Ytra Tunga (seals!), Arnarstapi Cliffs, Djupalonssandur (stunning!) and Kirkjufell. Great day which captured the beauty of Iceland in a nutshell.

This is a 12 hour trip around the southwest of Iceland where there is some spectacular scenery. We were on a small bus with 16 people on the tour. Our tour guide 'Gunnar' was amazing. He was knowledgeable, funny, and accommodating. He knew some interesting places for quick stops that weren't on the official program, which made it more interesting. He... More

This is a must see in Iceland. Many tour companies do this tour now. Along the way is the amazing black church. The view along the way are out of this world.

I travelled there with a group of 25 . We spent three nights on the peninsula so we sort of covered almost all attractions .. Which included bird watching whale trips and lucked out with a spectacular aurora show...not wheelchair friendly at all. I would recommend hiking boots rather than normal trainers ... Something I missed out on was having... More
