Less than two hours drive from Reykjavík is Eyjafjallajökull glacier, and just a little further the Sólheimajökull glacier tongue extends down from Mýrdalsjökull. We take an easy walk on crampons up on to the ice field where a wonderland of ice sculptures, ridges and deep crevasses awaits discovery.

This is a 10 hour day trip including a bus trip of about 2.5 hrs to get to the glacier and about 2-3 hours walking on the glacier. It is a big bus tour and unfortunately it left late as some people were late, so...More

A once in a lifetime experience to walk on a glacier. The ice was so blue in some sections it was amazing. Walking through a glacier tunnel was a highlight. Walking with crampons is very easy and you didn't feel like slipping over. The most...More

This was one of my dreams for such a long time, especially as glaciers might be my future course of study and choosing this tour with Reykjavík Excursions was a wonderful introduction to what Iceland and its glaciers has to offer. You will be picked...More

It's a 2 hour bus ride out to the glacier so plan accordingly. You'll make the usual Reykjavik Excursions transfers and then a stop along the way to grab some food (about 1/2 way into the 2 hours). You'll want to pick up lunch here...More

The glacier is absolutely wonderful, but I wrote about it in another review already, so here I'm going to focus on the tour itself. You get a bus ride to the glacier, which is great, especially last few kilometers - there is rough ground and...More

Be warned, the guide on our bus said this tour gets cancelled A LOT! You won't be told it's cancelled day until you're an hour and a half out of town and conveniently on a bus with another tour. The tour you are then forced...More

Hi, Charlotte. Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear you did not enjoy your time with us. Icelandic nature is fickle especially in the fall and spring. When your tour had started, the driver and guide got the news that the road to...More

On an amazing trip to Iceland, this might have been the biggest highlight. Hiking on and drinking directly from a glacier is something I will never forget. Our guide was fantastic and shared interesting facts about the glaciers and how they change, while making sure...More

Remarkable and unfortunately fast disappearing glacial ice that is dramatically coated with black volcanic ash-- on section is nicknamed "Mordor". We took a glacier hike in Norway on a sparkling white/ shades of blue glacier that glittered in a bright sunny day. This was almost...More

Full day trip, but beautiful drive to and from the glacier hike. Winter gear recommended but was warm the day we hiked so we were down to shirts and wind breakers. Company rents hiking boots which you will need for using crampons. Some physically demanding...More

My parents and I did this tour during our August trip to Iceland. The tour departed exactly on time and the drive and driver were very pleasant. The tour group was about 30 people, but we were split into groups of about 10 once we...More
