About
Mr. Puffin is Reykjavik's premier birdwatching tour operator. Guiding tours from the Old Harbour in downtown Reykjavik to the incredible puffins and sea birds on Faxafloi bay. We operate both tours on conventional bird watching boats and our very special custom made RIB boats. The RIB boats are very fast and get you very close, without disturbing the birds. We operate from around the 1st of May to the 20th of August, depending on when the puffins arrive and leave Iceland!

My experience with Mr. Puffin to see the puffins was extraordinary! Not only did the guide give us extensive information about these unique birds, she had a great sense of humor as she walked around our raft. She took photos with her professional camera and amazingly emailed them with no charges attached. In addition, the captain expertly steered us as close as possible to the island and floating puffins so we had a good look at them. Excellent trip in all ways!

We met a couple in a café who recommended this trip. I love puffins and have seen them in England, but just one or two at a time, nesting. This is a completely different experience!
It was wonderful to see and be amongst so many as the rib drifted gently in the shallow water around Lundey Island. Watching them swim around, dive and take off was a brilliant experience. I wouldn't have wasted so much time trying to photograph them myself if I had known we were going to be sent Mélanie's great photos of the trip!

Although the trip was only around 1 hour including the journey from the old harbour and back, it was long enough to see plenty and enjoy the experience.

We took the premium tour, which utilizes a small boat designed to allow a closer view of the puffin colonies. We were fortunate to see many puffins on land, on the water and flying overhead. Our guide and driver were wonderful and enhanced the experience with their knowledge and engagement. Everyone was pleasant, answering questions and taking us on a scenic route back to the harbor. Our guide also took photos and emailed them to anyone who was interested. The experience exceeded expectations!

This tour was AMAZING!!! We had the best time. Not only was it a fun boat ride, the best part (next to seeing the beautiful puffins of course) was our tour guide Pedro. He is a student from Portugal studying Marine Biology and he had SOOO Much to tell us about the puffins and the other birds around. He was so enthusiastic about everything it made it such a fun tour. He even brought his own camera and shared the beautiful photos he took with us after the tour. (they were WAAAY better than we could ever take!!!)

We took the premium small boat out to see puffins, and saw so many puffins! Our guide was able to tell us about the puffins, and as a bonus, she shared photos.she took with her telephoto lens camera with us (way better than the pictures I took on my phone). The weather was great, and the boat ride was fun. I highly recommend this tas you get up close to the puffins!

I was surprised how close we could get to the puffins and how many we saw. The guides were incredibly knowledgeable about all kinds of sea birds and other wildlife. They enjoyed answering questions and had a pair of binoculars available to use. The boat is like a zodiac that only holds about 10-12 people, so get your tickets early. You actually have to suit up in a survival suit and life jacket, which takes a little doing! The boat ride itself is about five quick high-speed minutes out to the islands, then some leisurely watching and photography, then a few extra minutes to see the Reykjavik skyline. The whole tour is about an hour long, not including the suiting up. It's a great experience to do once and learn a lot!

Seeing the Puffins was for me the most important thing to do in Iceland. We took the cruise to Iceland as we knew we could see them in the Reykjavik area. It was very easy to get to the tour company and they were very patient as we struggled into our gear. The rib boat was very comfortable. We had a good amount of time to see the birds and our guide on board was wonderful about telling about the other birds on the island and about the puffins. The ride back was a surprise. I don't want to ruin it . Go.

I wanted to make sure we saw puffins on our trip and with this activity we did. Checked that off the list. We did the one hour RIB tour. They provide a huge amount of cold weather gear. This included a full body jacket, hats, and gloves.

I wasn't really sure what to expect from this tour as I was doing it on recommendation from a friend and it ended up being one of my favorite experiences of my whole trip! The tour guide we had was friendly and extremely informative, and we got to see so many puffins! The tour guide took high resolution pictures on a good camera so we didn't have to worry about fumbling with phones during the trip. After the trip, all of the pictures taken were sent to us. I highly recommend checking this tour out, it's definitely worth it!

We had a great experience seeing puffins close to Reykjavik with this Mr. Puffin tour. It was well organized, informative and we definitely say many puffins. The only down side was there was not any information on their confirmation about how to find the office for tour check-in. It's in the Old Harbor, only a few steps from Hofnin Restaurant in a brown wooden small modern building.
