We only happened upon this bar whilst looking for a restaurant. It is centrally situated in downtown Reykjavik, close to many bars, eateries, and a comedy club! When we went in, we were greeted by a friendly barman who persuaded us to taste some of their craft beers. A selection was served to us on an unusual wooden tray. But they didn't stop there - we were given a leaflet explaining each beer, the way they were made and the history behind them. It ended up a fun way to while away an evening.

My wife and I stopped here as I wanted to try the fermented shark and brennivin. Really cosy pub with friendly staff. The barman explained the history of the drink and we talked about the shark meat.

The meat was.....an experience. If you like to try unique local delicacies I would recommend it. My wife did not try it at all. The brennivin was a very nice shot to wash it down with. I wish we were there for longer but due to me driving I didnt stay for another drink.

The flight is a great way to sample beers from around Iceland! I stopped here when crowds were artificially low due to covid-19 travel restrictions. The live shows were not running but the bartender was very friendly and made me feel welcome. I thoroughly enjoyed the flight if Icelandic beers and a lamb soup and side of bread from Iceland street food a few doors down. I hope that if I am ever delayed in a city again, I find the people as kind, the beers as cold, and the food as comforting as I have found in Reykjavic.

Wife fancied a drink at this bar. Friendly barman who explained all the various beers. Very enjoyable time spent there sampling a couple of different craft beers, you can also bring your food from the street food shop a couple doors down to enjoy with your drink.

We checked into our hotel late across the street from Icelandic and was recommended to grab a bite to eat there. Service was good and quick, fish and chips, and the beer choices were amazing. Nice place to hang with friends, or grab a bite to eat. Not far from town.

OK, so this is a simple, but utterly comfortable place. Really inseparable from its twin, Icelandic Street Food, it provides the same tasty comfort food with a little more atmosphere.

Perfect for lunch as you amble around the city, this bar will serve you 1980s-style soup in a bread bowl (the lamb soup/stew is rich and satisfying and the seafood concoction thin, but serviceable) with various craft beers and decent wines by the glass... red and white:)... though at $10 a glass hideously, but typically expensive. (You’d think polar explorers are schlepping the vino via dog sled across the ice cap from Spain.)

The bread in the bread bowl is remarkably stale, so don’t bother unless you have a dentist on retainer. But the place is well located and friendly, so OK, go with the outer space financial context that is Iceland, and enjoy a pint — or glass — or two.

Went to the bar on Monday night. The bartenders had me pay full price when i ordered my groups beverages. 5 minutes later they informed a local that it was close enough to happy hour that they could apply the discount to their beverage order.

If you are going to operate a business be fair across the board.

Zero Stars for this place!!!

Listen up. This place has three happy hours. THREE. During happy hour (3-4pm, 6-7pm, 9-10pm, I believe), draft beers are 800kr (~$7.50). THAT’S AS GOOD AS IT’S GOING TO GET FOLKS. The bar under this bar is also a pretty decent (free!) comedy club and is owned by the same people, so you can bring beers from upstairs down to the show. When we were there, there was a happy hour from 8-9p downstairs, so you know what you should do...
Icelandic and international beers available, cool atmosphere, kind bartenders. Just go.

This is just a bar for tourists. The beer on tap was Viking or Einstök so pretty much as far from ‘craft beer’ as you can get. It’s massively expensive too.

It gives me the impression of a place that is trying to replicate a tourists view of what Iceland should be (ie: certain look, particular music being played etc). We were the only Icelanders there (which is not necessarily a bad thing but maybe shows who they are catering towards).

Good things: the barman from the Czech Republic was extremely nice and friendly. It’s also definitely an improvement on the establishment that used to be on the same site so can’t complain about that.

If you want a genuine Icelandic experience and genuine Icelandic craft beer at a cheaper price go to Skúli or Microbar.

Take time to stope here for a local beer or two. Talk to the bartender. He knows his beer and how to match the right one to your taste. You can bring food from Icelandic Street Food (all you can eat for 2000 Krona).
