If you’re visiting Reykjavik then this is a must! We paid 9000 ISK (roughly £53) per adult, and the trip was worth every penny! The docks are a nice walk away and it was very simple to pick up our tickets from the dock office and walk the 10 minutes to the dock where the ship was. When you’re on board, the seats/tables are comfortable and the bar is relatively cheap. They have a wide selection of wine/beer/spirits/soft drinks/hot drinks and snacks (the hot chocolate is delicious!).

Inside is lovely and warm, and outside was freezing. They have a lot of blankets that you can wrap around you and take outside, but we underestimated just how cold it would be and even though we bought ‘thermal’ coats and pants, they just didn’t cut it (our fault!). The upstairs deck is fab, as is the staff/guides pointing out what to look for.

We were fortunate enough to see beautiful whales! And lots of them! A truly remarkable experience!

Although we didn’t see any whales, we had a very pleasant trip on the yacht. It’s a very exclusive yacht to your trip with plenty of space on board whether you want to be inside or outside on deck. Given it was December we spent most of the time inside but there are windows all around the boat for you to enjoy the views and just maybe see a whale.

Tour guide (Lucky) was lovely and very informative throughout the trip on what we might see and where we were sailing too. There is a bar on board where you can get hot drinks and snacks too. Would highly recommend but whale sightings are not guaranteed. Because of this, they allow you to return at another date in future at no extra cost.

I had the great pleasure of taking a whale watching excursion on the Amelia Rose on 21July and to say it was worth the price is a vast under statement. The Captain and the First mate (Mar) were very cordial, professional and did their job very well. The boat was beautiful, well appointed with a large salon on the main deck, a smaller salon area at the bridge level, a lower deck with a second bar and booths for seating and eating should you have a large group, and an upper dick that provided a 360 degree view of the ocean. The boat was manufactured in Mexico and had very fine detailed woodwork through out the vessel.

On the bridge the captain had a GPS moving map with the Reykjavik harbor, other vessels, and exactly where we were going pamper out. There were some seas on this day running about 4-5’ on occasion but the Amelia Rose rode the waves very well and was a very stable platform for viewing. We did see a few hump back whales, dolphins and we even went by Puffin Island to view the puffins in their nesting location.

The trip lasted a good 3+ hours. If you are in Reykjavik, I would highly recommend Sea Trips Reykjavik for their hospitality, their professionalism, their attention to safety and knowledge of the area. We had a great time and will definitely come back and do it again.

My recent encounter with Sea Trips left me profoundly disheartened and frustrated. I believe it's crucial to share my experience so that others are aware of the concerning practices of this company.
Initially, we had booked the RIB Tour with high expectations. However, due to adverse weather conditions, Sea Trips canceled it just one hour before departure. In an attempt to accommodate us, they offered an alternative, the Arctic Rose, which we reluctantly accepted, considering the four-hour journey we had already made to get there. However, our disappointment grew as we realized that the weather was perfect for the tour, a fact even acknowledged by the captain during the Arctic Rose trip. There was no wind, rain, or waves to be seen. To underline this point, I have attached video footage and photos from our tour as evidence of the ideal weather conditions.
I strongly recommend Sea Trips to enhance their communication regarding safety concerns or tour cancellations. Waiting until the last hour to cancel not only wasted our time but also incurred expenses for the four-hour journey and petrol to Reykjavik. It deprived us of the opportunity to savor more of Iceland's breathtaking landscapes.
My skepticism is further fueled by the fact that other tour operators were continuing their tours on the same day.
In conclusion, I strongly caution potential travelers to reconsider choosing this company for their Icelandic adventures, as there are unquestionably more dependable and forthright tour operators available.

A classic bait and switch scam. Booked a luxury yacht and got a scruffy small ferry type boat and they told everyone far too late to find an alternative so options were either suck it up or cancel. Of course when you've looked forward to the trip nobody wants to cancel last minute so you pay luxury yacht prices and get a ferry (and a hot drink voucher as 'compensation'). We had lots of cancellations due to weather, which we have no problem with, but because of all those cancellations we knew for a few days that we were not going to get the Amelia Rose as per our booking, however they did not tell most people until the morning of their trip. We didn't see much, just a few minke whales which again no problem (though not reflected in their blog), but everyone in our vicinity was quite uncomfortable with the way the boat chased them down. There was very little information given, so it was mostly just a silent and very cold ferry ride. What should have been a luxury trip in a warm yacht with views from every seat was in fact a freezing cold trip on top of a ferry. There were seats inside but nothing could be seen from them. Rather than cancel and spend precious time on holiday trying to find an alternative we tried to make the best of it but it was all around a very expensive disappointment.

We hadn’t planned to book whale watching as October is not the best time usually, but having read reviews of people taking tours only a couple of days before we went seeing Humpback, we thought it’s worth a punt.

We wondered down to the port to see what the set up was and having looked also on Expedia, I liked the look of the Sea Trips vessel over the ribs, or larger boats. The price was also good value.

The Amelia Rose is a nicely appointed vessel, with three deck levels giving plenty of opportunity to get a good vantage point. I don’t know how many people were on our tour, but it never felt crowded, unlike some of the other tours where some of the decks looked very busy. For those feeling the chill, they could stay in one of the cabins or grab a blanket. I didn’t actually do inside, but I gather there was a bar and rest rooms below deck.

As we approached the feeding grounds, we were very quickly seeing White Beaked Dolphins and I could see the other tour boats in the distance tracking a whale. After some time with the dolphins, we headed to join the other boats and saw there were three Humpback Whales in a seemingly relaxed mood, cruising and doing shallow dives.

We stayed with the Whales for as long as possible and were treated by tails dives and one breached only 50 metres or so from the boat. An amazing sight, but sadly as it was so unexpected my camera decided not to focus. So annoying!

As we turned for home, more dolphins played with the boat and we also saw a Minke Whale.

Throughout the tour, our guide was on hand to provide interest facts and information, as well as use their expertise to spot the dolphins and whales.

A fantastic and memorable trip

We sailed today on the Amelia Rose and had the most amazing time! The weather was perfect for sailing and the views from the ship were incredible. The yacht is beautiful and comfortable although we spent nearly the whole time on the top deck for the 360' views. We knew beforehand that our chance of seeing anything was quite low as it's late in the year but my husband and I agreed that we would have been happy just to have the experience of being on a yacht in such beautiful surroundings with such glorious weather, and any whales would be a bonus. However, we were absolutely delighted to see several minke whales, 3 humpback whales and quite a few dolphins, which was so beautiful. The humpback whales were around for quite a while and gave quite a display of fin slapping and blowing water and were much closer to the yacht than I expected.

Our guide, Emil, was brilliant. So friendly and informative and it was great to see him getting just as excited as we were when spotting the whales and dolphins. He gave us lots of information about what to look for when searching for the whales and how to tell what type of whale they were, plus lots of other general information about the sealife in the area. We were also really impressed with the way in which the captains from all the vessels that were out searching all worked together and communicated with eachother whenever something was spotted so that everyone had the best chance to get a look.

Overall, we were really impressed with Sea Trips Reykjavik and would highly recommend them to anyone considering a whale watching tour.

We booked the Amelia Rose for the NYE harbour fireworks two hour trip (31/12/2021). It was busy but we had inside seats. It was decorated for the celebration and had a well stocked bar with friendly staff. We had a great view of all the city's fireworks, which were spectacular! The Icelanders certainly know how to celebrate! A glass of champagne at midnight was included too. Not a cheap activity, but fun to do. The only issue was that a heavy wooden sunlounger was on the bow deck which was an obstacle for people to get around as space was tight. I did see one person fall over it as it was very dark on deck. Just be wary of this.
I don't know why it was left there as that's not very safe.
Otherwise I would recommend this company.

Hello, sorry for the delay in responding, and thank you for your lovely review! It was a glorious night. I just wanted to reply now to let you know we are removing the sunlounger and putting permanent, less in the way seating there instead. We really appreciate your input because things like this are exactly how we get better! All the best, Lucky

I recently went on a whale watching tour with Sea Trips on the Amelia Rose yacht and it was amazing. I was very happy to be able to buy a coffee when I got on board to warm up and was pleasently surprised at the free chocolate that came with it!
Many are worried about the waves and cold when whale watching, but with this trip you are able to stay inside until you find the whales and the crew had sea sick pills if needed!
The multiple staff on hand worked hard to find the whales and once we did, there were almost too many to see. We had a guide telling us all about the different whales in the area and what to look for. They also helped to point out where the whales were.
We ended up in a huge feeding area with lots of whales all around us, along with many puffins and some porpoises!
I highly recommend this company and this tour! It is easy to find the boat as it is centrally located and the staff are very helpful.

I have never written a review before but these guys deserve it! I booked the premium whale watching tour on the small yellow speed boat.. definitely worth the money and it turned out to be much cheaper than the other places offering the smaller speed boat trips. The smaller speed boat is better than the larger boats as all the captains in the ocean keep in contact and when one boat sights a whale etc you can get there muchhhhhh quicker which resulted in us seeing humpback whales, minky whales, dolphins and puffins. Mak and the captain couldn’t have been more lovely, they made the trip special and put lots of effort into making it fun, informative and getting us close to the action so you could see clearly the wildlife. Thank you so much, 10/10 experience!!
