Needed to locate this store. This allowed us to find other locations we visited on a previous trip. Nice store.

Great little store that we wondered into across from our hotel. They have just about any language and book selection you would want. We found a catalog from 1942 in which a vendor from Copenhagen had given to a merchant in Reykjavik. There was a purchase order inside for piano wire. Great find!

Located one block from the popular tourists Laugavegur street, the used book store is where the famous chess player Bobby Fischer would visit several times a week. The used book store is filled with hundreds of old books in Icelandic, Danish, French, and English with old celebrity and newspaper clippings hanging on the wall. The books are sorted into sections, but the organization ends there since there are books stacked in no apparent order on the shelves and on the floor. Any reader would appreciate this authentic bookstore. I bought a poetry book in Icelandic and the book store owner was able to tell me all about the author. A must visit for anyone who wants to purchase a "real" souvenir from Iceland.

I only speak English. The bookstore is pretty cool and the man working there is very nice. But most of the books are not in English. It was still fun to check out. And the man working there was super nice.

This is the best used bookstore in Iceland. While most of its content is in Icelandic, there is a large amount of English and other European language books here. There is also a good selection of ephemera. Great atmosphere if you like old book stores, NOT a typical tourist destination. A good place to while away a rainy afternoon.
