Great little store that we wondered into across from our hotel. They have just about any language and book selection you would want. We found a catalog from 1942 in which a vendor from Copenhagen had given to a merchant in Reykjavik. There was a purchase order inside for piano wire. Great find!…

Located one block from the popular tourists Laugavegur street, the used book store is where the famous chess player Bobby Fischer would visit several times a week. The used book store is filled with hundreds of old books in Icelandic, Danish, French, and English with old celebrity and newspaper clippings hanging on the wall. The books are sorted into sections, but the organization ends there since there are books stacked in no apparent order on the shelves and on the floor. Any reader would appreciate this authentic bookstore. I bought a poetry book in Icelandic and the book store owner was able to tell me all about the author. A must visit for anyone who wants to purchase a "real" souvenir from Iceland.…
