Booked a return premium service to and from the airport, the trip to the hotel was ok. Driver didnt speak fro the whole of the ride, no details of the onboard wifi, when i tried logging in was a really pain, lots of info required unless you wanted to safe your facebook account details, then they wanted to sand a one time passcode to my mobile that wasnt on roaming.
All this was not a big deal untill the return trip to the airport, the weather was bad, this was not ther fault. how they handled it was shockingly bad..
The day before my pick up, i tried to confirm a couple of times on the chat message on their web page no one answered, i sent and email no one answered. I was in the hotel reception half an hour before my pick up time, so 7.30 am for 8.00am pick up. I needed to be at the airport by 9.20am
At 7.25 am i received an email saying the pick for 8.00am and 9.00am was cancelled, no other infomation and they would not answer their phones. So i had to book a cab at a cost of 17500 over one hundred pounds. the email they sent me was sent to 15 other passangers and they included all our email adresses which is a data protection breach. they were sending emails to people and copying me in ! On the 5th Jan they day after i returned to the UK, they sent me an email saying...... Did everything go ok with you transfer? what a joke, you cant control the weather, however your response was shockingly bad

Dear vinceDerby, We are very sorry to hear about your experience. We always do our utmost to keep the schedule on time, however in the past few days we have experienced unusually extreme weather. A transfer would never be delayed or cancelled last minute unless we believed that going out on the road could be hazardous to our customers or others. We are aware of our responsibility towards our clients and how important it is to make it to the airport in time for your flight. We appreciate every feedback we receive, also when things go wrong, that is what makes it possible for us to improve. We have emphasized to the staff that they have a responsibility towards customer's privacy when using their e-mail address. However we would like to investigate your case further, so we would really appreciate if you would send us your booking details, you can e-mail me directly at lovisa@airportdirect.is Best wishes, Lovísa at Airport Direct

The service works, it gets you from A to B (well near B!). However their system is chaotic. Check the wording on e mail attachments as that’s where you find out you have to be at any pick up half an hour before the bus leaves the terminal. My advice is to ring prior to return to airport as our paperwork was contradictory and gave the wrong bus stop! Some drivers friendly, others surly, and uncommunicative. (Our drop off man simply pointed to our hotel, a hundred meters away, and politely opened the van door so we could get our cases out easily. He then said “pick up here” but our invoice said “pick up Blue Bus stop”). In Icelandic weather waiting for a bus for half an hour is not great. Wish we had done a private transfer with hindsight.

We arrived to Keflavik from NYC early in the morning and went to the counter to redeem our vouchers for our Airport transfer to Reykjavik. We did so and went out to our bus. No problems. After a few minutes, the bus left and took us to the bus depot in Reykjavik. We did not know that we would have to wait here for 45 minutes before then getting on another bus to our hotel bus stop. If we had been told that this is how it works, we would have gone with another option. After flying overnight, it is not desirable to sit with 2 children in a bus depot. Most of the other people on our bus from the airport got picked up from the bus depot to go to their hotels within 10 minutes. When we asked the employee at the bus depot when our bus would arrive, he said that it was rush hour and traffic was bad so that was the reason for the delay. However, several other buses arrived for various locations and tours, but not ours. When the driver finally arrived after 45 minutes, we were shown to the minibus. He then opened the back doors of the bus and the side door and we all sat in the bus for another 10-15 minutes with the doors wide open. Sitting in the depot would have been preferable to this as it was COLD! None of the other passengers understood what we were waiting for and why all the doors were open either. Finally we left. After making it to the city center, the bus driver combined stops 9 and 10 (closer to 9 as we later learned). We had to ask which direction to walk in in order to get to our hotel. He took off in a hurry as we navigated the dark streets of Reykjavik on our own. All in all, a disappointing start to our vacation. Next time, we will go with another company.

It was was easy to find the Airport Direct bus at the Keflavik airport. We were taken to a holding station and then transported on different buses to our hotels. There were no real instructions on what was going on and the bus drivers barely came in the building, yelled out once and left the building. If you didn't hear them, you were out of luck. We missed our bus and would have to wait a minimum of 30 minutes before another one. After traveling all night, we opted for a taxi. Going back to the airport was much easier--partly because we understood the process and partly because most of the travelers were going to the same place. I would recommend them because the price is right. Just stay near the door with your bags ready at the central station.

The Premium service was excellent, and although we did have a problem with our return trip to the airport due to weather conditions, Airport Direct, when contacted, promptly refunded our travel portion, and was professional about the entire issue. Again, it was not their fault, but the ever changing winter weather in Iceland that caused the delay. We will be booking them and their services for all of our transportation needs when traveling to Iceland in the future.

We booked a premium transfer from KEF to Reykjavik, and an economy transfer with hotel pick up from Reykjavik to KEF.
The premium transfer service was excellent, ran on time, small minibus, quick and friendly service, excellent value if you want a quick transfer without the high price of a private transfer.
On the day of our economy return transfer, unfortunately there was a big storm which resulted in delayed flights and road closures/buses not being able to run. Our original hotel pick up was booked for 7:30am, the company called to let us know this would not be going ahead and booked us onto the next available service at 11:30am (excellent communication). However this bus did not arrive, I called the company and they said it had also been cancelled and we were now again booked onto a later service (which did show and after that the transfer went very smoothly).
However have to knock one star off as we did not receive any communication by email or call to let us know the 11:30am pick up was cancelled and waited outside in the cold for 30 minutes for the bus.
But overall a good service and would recommend!

Thank you Emily for taking time in writing us this very detailed review about your experience. We would like first to apologize for any inconvenience caused by the transfer disruption. Each transfer departure was due to a last minute decision as the weather was changing very fast. We are glad that you found our services reliable and our communication efficient and we promise to do better next time! It will be our pleasure to have you back on board when you come to visit Iceland again.

Ths service first takes you to a depot and then transfers you to a smaller bus which will in our case was a bus stop that was 400 metres up a hill to our hotel. We had no warning of this and it was a real struggle in the snowy/icy ground. As our hotel was in the City centre on a main road that regular buses run on it makes no sense at all. Be warned!

Dear trevorhayward, Thank you for taking the time to review our service, we appreciate the feedback. We are sorry that you were not aware of the arrangement with the service you purchased. We try to make it clear in our marketing material. You seem to have purchased our Economy + service which is a transfer to our terminal including a hotel connection. Reykjavik City has restricted all large buses from entering the city center. I want to point out to you that we do offer a Premium service. By using exclusively mini-buses, that seat only 8 passengers, we are allowed to pick up directly from hotels in central Reykjavik. Hopefully you can try our Premium service upon your next visit. Kind regards, The Airport Direct team

We landed in Iceland and it was our first visit to the country. Despite there being no queue for the bus, the driver expected me to stand outside in horrific wind, and all my luggage, to find my bus ticket on my phone. I showed him it and despite it being from his company he was shouting at me to prove that it was for their company. I booked it in England and it said look for a big orange coach. They were the only big orange coaches there. After showing him 3 times he finally agreed we could travel. He shouted at me in front of others on the bus and spoke to me horrifically. He helped others put their bags under the bus but grunted at us to put our own on. He actually made me cry. I had no idea about different places in Iceland I just knew we were going towards Reykjavik. He shouted at me that he will be dropping us at the bus station and repeatedly said this but did not offer any help in how we could get from the bus station (I.e. another bus or taxi) we had no idea as this was our first visit. I would NOT recommend this trip. This is of course my opinion and thoughts but it was an awful start to our trip away and made me feel so so stressed. We found using ‘fly bus’ cheaper and the staff much more helpful during the rest of our visit.

Hopefully I won’t get a snotty reply from the company for sharing my view and experience. I did receive an email to only leave a review if I was happy. I was very disappointed in the way the guy spoke to me and how he treat me and made me feel.

Excellent service, pick up from the airport efficient and on time. Friendly and helpful drivers. Our plane was delayed for 24 hours, I emailed to rearrange revised pick up which was confirmed in a matter of minutes with the company duly picking up at confirmed time.

We were booked through Secret Escapes who had omitted to include our transfer vouchers. This was easily resolved at the airport counter whose staff were so helpful and speak great English. We were yards away from the coach, which was modern clean, comfortable and quiet . Upon arrival at the bus station we were then transferred to a smaller bus to our hotel. Our collection was similarly efficient and the journey through the snow felt safe and secure. I have hesitation Airport direct .
