Reykjavik has so many sculptures and this one is downtown. I know its meant to be a water carrier but it also reminded me of weightlifter. Guess its OK for a photo but not a lot more.

One of the best parts of Reykjavik is the multitude of statues and sculpture all around town. This interesting piece is very close to the Hard Rock Cafe and the walking street. Very modernistic with sleek lines.

Looked at this statue for a while, not knowing they were toting containers of water. The location is ideal, near the downtown area and the street to the church atop the hill.

We used to walk by this and found it very odd looking, so much so that the city did not consider it appealing enough to be placed here but after much controversy they agreed. The sculpture is to represent the people carrying water through the...More

Sculpted by Ásmundur Sveinsson the statue represents the lowly paid job of the water carrier, in days gone by this job was done by men and women and was seen as one of the worst jobs you could do. Not far from the tourist information...More

This is a very nice statue located near the waterfront. Weirdly, the statue was apparently the subject of local controversy when it was first unveiled, and it was moved from its original site.

I rather liked this interesting yet unassuming modernist statue. It is enjoyable to contemplate its blend of abstract and traditional forms. It is a pleasant surprise.
