I can't begin to say how incredible this tour and Sigurjón Petursson, our guide were. We had a long car ride to start out with. We talked the whole way about Iceland, its culture, the people, the health care system, the sights, among other things. Sig, as we called our guide, answered all our questions of which we had many. When we visit different countries, we like to learn as much as we can about the country and the people. Sig's knowledge about his country as well as our country was impressive and we thoroughly enjoyed the discussions and the ride.
The Snaefellsnes Peninsula is breathtaking. We saw moss covered lava fields, glaciers, volcanoes, waterfalls, the Kirkjufell mountain, small fishing villages, beautiful mountains, and the Gatklettur or Arch rock. It was all magnificent and awe-inspiring. I fell in love with Iceland and wished that I had several more weeks to explore the country.
At the various stops we made, Sig showed us all the best viewing and photo spots, while telling us more about the history, geology and background of the various stops.
As far as being a photo guide, he was amazing. I am an amateur when it comes to photography and he was a excellent teacher. He assessed my skills and my equipment, made suggestions, answered my questions, provided fantastic photo stops and reviewed my photos afterwards. I learned so much.
Although it was raining part of the day, Sig did not let that ruin our day. In fact, he seemed to get it to magically stop, or at least slow down, for us to get out of the car and see the stops. I think he studied the weather maps and planned the day accordingly.
He chose a great little cafe for lunch at a local library where we had wonderful hot bowls of soup and reviewed photos that I had taken that morning.
As probably often happens, we had people in the group that were not as interested in photography as I was. Sig made sure that they had a wonderful and enjoyable time as well. My brother enjoys walking and Sig made sure to tell him at each stop where he could walk while we took pictures.
All in all, the day was absolutely incredible. The sights were stunning, the company was magnificent, the discussions we had were informative and interesting, and the teaching was phenomenal. I would highly recommend this photo tour company (Photo Tours in Iceland) and our guide, Sigurjón Petursson to anyone who wants to escape the bus tours, move at their own pace, take wonderful pictures, see wonderful sights and learn about the country. We intend to go back to Iceland some day and go on more of Sig's tours.

We had a group tour in the morning with Sigurjón Pétursson and we engaged him for a private tour for the balance of the day. He is very knowledgeable about the history of Iceland and the cultural changes that have taken place and is also a very good photographer. He took us to a number of sites that you would not see on a tour and suggested some great photo opportunities. We had our eleven year old grandson with us and he kept the interest of our grandson for the entire day. He is a very engaging person and we thoroughly enjoyed our day with him.

20.06.2017 Unfortunately, we had a lot of rain, but still the photo safari was a complete success. We were brought closer to the right photograph. Man could come to the Geide with all questions. We would like to thank all the other photographers.

Thank you for a positive review. The rainy day really proofed that good photographs do not require sunshine.

Our dual couples private photo tour with Sigurjon Petursson, of the Golden Circle was outstanding ! In spite of the rainy and windy weather we could not have been more satisfied with our guide. "Sig", as we called him, picked us up on time at our hotel in Reykjavik and started a narrative about his country immediately. We learned so much about the history, customs, weather, flora and fauna, and local color before we arrived at the first attraction, that one could have half filled a book. He is very knowledgeable in many subjects, as well as being a great teacher and excellent photographer. Sig took the time to enhance our education while being sure to provide excellent instruction on techniques relating to photography and allotting time to each member of our party of four, to be certain we enjoyed ourselves at each stop on the tour. He found us a great place to have lunch and made certain we were comfortable and felt safe the entire day. We were all so pleased with him that we engaged him for a second all day tour later in the week. I seriously doubt anyone could find a better guide anywhere in Iceland.

Sigurjon, you were excellent. Just wish the weather had been better! It was soooo windy and rainy. You were a trooper though, and kept us going. You taught me some good tips for keeping my camera dry in nasty weather, and definitely taught me how to take better pictures.
Our visit was actually in July 2015 but that date wasn't an option in your request option below.

In 2 different tours on successive days, Sigurjón Pétursson (Sig) introduced us to the Iceland he loves and is proud of. He is a photographer, a lifelong resident & certified tour guide of Iceland. He’s also a good teacher. We were a party of 3. I am a long-time amateur photographer who was interested in an Icelander’s take on what is photogenic. My wife and her sister are interested in photography, but relatively new to it. Sig was prepared for both levels and while we discussed composition styles of photography, he helped the two of them feel comfortable using their new cameras.
The weather (which, in Iceland, is referred to as a state of mind) was less than cooperative and yet we came away from the two days feeling pleased that we had seen parts of Iceland we would not have seen on a more typical tour.
Our first tour was on the day of our arrival. He picked us up from the airport at 7AM local time (2AM our time) and took us to a local historical sod house en route to The Viking Museum, both of which gave us a good basic understanding of early Icelandic life. After bkfst there, we headed to a local shrine, a seaside church, the President’s Residence, his hometown, and then to the Hallgrimskirkja Cathedral, a striking modern structure, winding up at the Sun Voyager sculpture in downtown Reykjavik We then lunched, where we planned the next day, before being dropped off at our hotel. It was a leisurely way to spend the time before we would be able to check in to the hotel.
The next morn, 7AM, he picked us up for our 12 hour tour to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. He brought us to a small black church that was very photogenic and suggested, as he would in other stops, possible angles that might produce more interesting shots. We also stopped at a natural stone arch by the seaside, and took an off-road excursion through an intriguing old moss covered lava field.
He was very flexible about making stops when the scenery demanded it. When one waterfalls destination was eliminated due to the heavy rain we experienced, he shifted gears and found us another with better conditions where we were able to spend time shooting it the way we wanted.
Would I recommend the trip to fellow photographers of all levels? Without a moment’s hesitation. Sig is a very personable and amenable guide and if I am able to get back to Iceland, it is my intention to take another tour with him. I would trust him to be my exclusive guide for a tour around the Island!

I wanted to make sure I made the most of my short business trip to Iceland. With just 1 day to play I did the golden circle route with Photo Tours in Iceland. I had enough time at each stop to get the shots I wanted without wasting time and missing anything. I felt totally spoiled riding in luxury and learning about the history of Iceland as well. I will be back for a week tour in the winter and will definitely use Photo Tours in Iceland again.

An experience of a lifetime! Otherworldly landscapes - geologic wonders, birds, Icelandic horses, and peaceful beauty! AND with Sig, a top notch photographer and teacher of photography, geology, bird behavior, history and culture, as is his wife, Pora, it is unbeatable! We and our friends spent 2 wondrous weeks with them, absorbing the dynamic panorama of this spectacular island. As we experienced this treasure, we talked, laughed, and learned! What could be better!

This past February I (and a friend) had the delightful good fortune to go on a personalized photo tour with Sigurjon and Thora Hronn Petursson on the southern coast of Iceland. The photo opportunities are endless, and the guidance and company of our 2 hosts was invaluable. They are two absolutely delightful people with a seemingly limitless knowledge of the history, culture geology, and photographic opportunities of their native country.
It should be mentioned that this tour would be best appreciated by more experienced landscape photographers, rather than a novice with a point and shoot camera.
You will not be disappointed.

Hope to see you again.

In 2013 I went on a Photo Tour to Iceland. I did that with great trepidation. Just the English misnomer of Islandia as "Iceland", gave me the shivers. From the very start of the Tour I felt welcome and relieved. Islandia is beautiful and its August weather very pleasant. Sigurjon, the tour guide, photography master and chauffeur was a good ambassador of his country. He was knowledgeable of its history as well as its geography. He had planned the tour so that accommodations were comfortable and eating places affordable. The photo tour started on day 1. He took me and my husband to photograph famous falls, volcano peaks, bird refuges, glaciers, picturesque farms and landscape covered by spongy, green moss. Sigurjon was also a great landscape photographer and took the time to assess one's photographic ability level. HIs photo sessions consisted of photographing in the morning/afternoon, submitting to him our photo cards upon arriving at a hotel, and reviewing our work after dinner with ample feedback that was concrete and helpful. He taught me how to position myself to get better results. He insisted on our best work. Everyday was fresh and full of surprises. Color photography stands out, but B&W pictures can also be very impressive. I enjoyed Iceland and its people. The language was a source of amusement. I was glad that English was spoken and understood by all. Reykjavik is beautiful with a mixture of the old and the new. Their art institutions are modern and impressive. Street sculpture is everywhere. Their knitwear is fabulous and reasonable. I returned with a desire to return to Iceland again. Sigurjon and his wife Thora remain friends with us. I endorse his business as one of the best organized, best informed, most efficient and useful that one can find. I encourage all to visit his website and see his and his wife's high quality photography.

I and Thora Hronn thank you for your comments. We did really hit it off from Day 1 to the end. Never a dull moment. The review of the photos of the day each evening gave me a lot of satisfaction. The exchange of ideas and opinions as well as knowledge and creativity made the tour for me a very special experience.
Again thank you and hope to see you again.
Sigurjón.
