Embark on a journey along roads less traveled on this small-group tour of Iceland's remote Westfjords region. You'll travel in a 4x4 from Isafjordur to Dyrafjordur and along the rugged Kjaransbraut road. Along the winding road you'll see abandoned farms and the mountain range known as the Westfjord Alps. After a drive along the steep and narrow Hrafnseyrarheidi road from Arnarfjordur you'll head back to Dyrafjordur and Isafjordur.

Scenic tour of Isafjordur, Iceland. It is designed for 6 tourist plus driver. Gundmundur is the owner/ operator and he was very skilled at driving this rugged and challenging terrain and he was equally knowledgeable about the history, culture and inhabitants of this territory. The tour had a nice balance of city view, brief shopping w WC break, then off road travel including up a mountain top in a fully equipped vehicle. We had a very personable tour and tailored to fit everyone’s needs. We could spend more or less time at stops. Though, this tour does not usually include a meal, Gundmundur was gracious enough to accommodate our request and took us to a delightful cafe for homemade by a local family, waffles that were absolutely sensational. I highly recommend this tour. It was the highlight of our time in Icleand.

We had a great time with Gumby in Isafjordur and the surrounding area. First off, who goes to the West Fjords for their first time over Christmas? My husband, I tell you. But I'm glad we did! He tried 5 different tour companies to find someone to give us a tour on Christmas Day before he found this one (who can blame someone for wanting to be with their family on the biggest holiday of the year?). Gumby was very gracious and even bought us a Christmas present--a book about the Yule lads. So thoughtful! He picked us up at 10 am, a little over an hour before sunrise so he could have us in position to watch the sunrise from the place he deemed most beautiful. And he wasn't wrong! It was a beautiful day and shared history and interesting information with us from his headset microphone all along the way. He dropped us off at a breathtaking waterfall and let us explore around on our own. He was super knowledgeable and it was great to hear stories from a local. We felt so educated by the end of the day! He is an excellent driver and my boys loved his Super Jeep! We were blessed with amazing weather so we have fabulous pictures of our few hours of sunlight sightseeing on Christmas day. We will be coming back, for sure!

I took both the Northern Lights and Mountain View tours and I cannot express how amazing and breathtaking it all was! My guide Gummi, was born and raised in this village and knows every nook and cranny. His Super Jeep (a Ford Expedition) is outfitted with the most amazing gadgets, very impressive. Not just on time but early both times and handled my silly questions with grace and the sincere effort to make sure that I was informed and educated. I do wish all guides during my adventures were this impressive.

Had a great time on the tour with Gudmundur. He was very responsive when it came to planning and responded quickly. He is very knowledgeable as he has lived there long and knows all the tales, history, and culture of the area. His capable super jeep can take you across the area in the rough terrain and weather conditions. Keep up the great work!
