We took the tour to Vigor Island which departed at 2pm, but we had to drive for 7 hours to get to Isafjourdor and they held the boat for us as we made a mad dash run arriving only 5 minutes late. Vigor Island is delightful, and our guide was eloquent and informative! The Island is home to over 60,000... More

I took the "Tour to the puffin paradise", which is a boat trip to Grimsey Island from Drangsnes. The cliffs and the birds are amazing. However, the puffins are afraid of people because they are hunted in Iceland, so it is difficult to see them really close.

We took the King and Queen of Cliffs hike with West Tours. It was an all day tour-2 hour boat ride to Hornstrandir park, then a 6km hike over the cliffs and through the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen. The hike was strenuous on parts, but they had a guide in the front and one in the back to... More

Beautiful day for a most beautiful trip to the Paradise Island of Vigur. We xame finally close to the Puffins for some nice images. The tour offered by West leaves at 14:00 hrs and it takes aprox 35 min with the closed speedboat to get to the island. Add an hour for a guided walk arround the island and some... More

My wife and I elected to take the trip to the abandoned whaling village of Hesteyri in the Hornstrandir Nature Reserve. The boat ride over and evolving scenery was integral to the memorable experience. Backpacking in Hornstrandir has now been added to my bucket list!

We really enjoyed our trip to Vigur island; it's about a half hour there and a half hour back by boat; its in the fjord so the day we went was pretty calm waters. From the island, you can see seals on rocks, puffin, eider duck and Arctic tern. The tour guide is very informative about the history of the... More

Had an absolutely beautiful day kayaking in the fjord. Saw some otters and kayaked right up to the runway of the Isafjordur Airport to watch a breathtaking landing and takeoff. It was great, though the wind and rain definitely made for some difficult paddling on the trip back to land. All in all, a wonderful day.

Great 1:1 kayak tour with a marine biologist. At first tried to book a 5 h tour for advanced paddlers, but the officially advertised tour limit was a minimum of two participants and there was no-one else interested. Too early in the season. West Tours proactively looked for a solution and found a local marine biologist to take me around... More

We (2 couples) booked a rib-boat ocean safari in hopes of seeing whales and puffins. The boat ride alone was worth the cost but we fortunately saw several whales and dozens of puffins. Our boat captain and crew were outstanding. They knew right where to find the whales and puffins. We were loaned waterproof one-piece snowmobile type garments and life... More

A good minibus tour, with a great guide who was also and Eider Duck farmer and winter cross country ski tutor, this close to the Arctic Circle life must be very hard in the winter. We saw some of the country and visited the old fisherman's hut/museum which you can walk round and touch the various old implements. Our guide... More
