We had 2 hour ride with the owner Tura and the whole experience was fabulous. Her horses are very well looked after and energetic and her tours are restricted to very small groups so you ride with similar standard riders. The property where we rode was basically lava fields and they were very interesting to ride through with details about the area from Tura. We tried all the gaits of the ponies and especially enjoyed the many opportunities to tölt which is such a unique gait. We highly recommend this ride which is a very quick and easy drive from Húsavik. Tura offers a whole range of riding adventures from 2 hours to a week.…

We took the 2 hour tour and it was amazing! The guides were really friendly and professional. One of us has experience with riding horses and one hasn't. We really enjoyed the tour and we both got to do some tölt. Halfway through they split the group so the ones with more experience could do some galop. When you are in the area you should really go to Lava Horses! You get to enjoy the beautiful nature on the back of a horse with some really nice people. If you have never been on a horse before, this is the best place for a first time. …

Our family has two parents who have absolutely no horse-riding experience, a 7-year-old who has a little experience and a 13-year-old with some experience. Lava Horses is a family-driven place with about 20 horses. The owner (Tora) knows the horses well and matched each of us with a horse according to our experience (or lack of it). Helmets are provided, but be sure to wear warm clothes especially if the weather is windy. After a short get-to-know-the-horses session in the paddock, we went on a one-hour ride through the unique landscape surrounding the Hraunkot farm. The landscape is shaped by lava forming countless caves and odd shapes. There is a rich vegetation of small trees. In the horizon there are mountains with patches of snow. Riding through this landscape on a beautiful Icelandic horse is an out-of-this-world experience. Accompanied by Tora and her daughter we were in good hands and good company. Riding the horses at Lava Horses and staying 3 nights at the Hraunkot Airbnb apartment was a highlight of our vacation in Iceland and we highly recommend both.…

We had an amazing horse journey with thé farm owner Tourra . She is very careful , all the times controls how are doing on the horse. All horses are well trained , no surprises for those who have never tried before , it is your perfect chance to discover a new feel of deep connection with animal and nature, better than any meditation experience. Again thanks, stay happy…
