Beautiful waterfall that is part of the Hraunfosser and Barnafoss waterfall area. This one is unique as the water flows through the lava. In fact, the name refers to the lava that the falls stream through. The two falls are about 125 yards apart. Don't miss this attraction! The Hraunfossar waterfall would be worth visiting on its own. Beautiful waterfall flows into crystal streams. There are a ton of viewing points provided and short hikes will take you up close and personal with the falls. Awesome photo opportunities exist, or you can just relax and enjoy the view. Worth driving a little off the path to visit these falls.

This waterfall is actually a multi-fall situation, and it is very accessible and beautiful. There is a large parking lot with several trails to walk on around the falls. Barnafoss is a very easy walk further down. There is a cafe next to the parking lot.

This was an unusual waterfall as the water came through the porous rocks, the water was full of minerals so was a beautiful light milky blue colour. There is a lovely short walk to the other waterfall. I particularly liked this area as there were very few tourists, just us and one family. There is a cafe nearby and toilets costing 100ISK.

Hraunfossar Waterfall is a bit different than the other waterfalls in Iceland. Hraunfossar is over 100 miniature waterfalls flowing from the rocks into the Hvita River. Very pretty waterfalls and a quite easy accessable area. Certainly a very unique waterfall area. It's like the water fall is coming out of the ground. You can walk to different spots to view the waterfall from different perspectives. There is a restaurant there and enough parking space. Keep about an hour to see it at ease. You can reach it in under 2 hours from Reykjavík. Worth the stop.

Our first major waterfall in Iceland. It's cool to see multiple falls streaming off the cliffs. It'll been nice if there was a hot spa around since it was freezing when we went! The power of the fall is crazy scary needless to say.

Wonderful experience at Hraunfossar at Husafell. We went out of our way to see this fall, and were delighted. Wished we could have spent more time--maybe an hour with a picnic lunch. This was a gentle but strong waterfall that was a much more pleasant and happy experience than, say, Dettifoss. I'd highly recommend this stop along with the "Children's Waterfall" adjacent.

This is free to visit and a very impressive waterfall.

The paths are all marked and a short distance from the large car park and there are lots of viewing platforms from which to take in the falls and lava fields and mountains beyond.

There is also an excellent cafe-restaurant on site.

Hraunfossar is a great landscape and waterfall coming from the lave, unbelievably blue color and a must see for nature lovers out there.

Hraunfossar is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland, especially during the fall foliage season. I visited once in September and once in October, and I preferred the latter. What makes it unique is that its water doesn’t originate from the mountains, but rather from lava beds deep within the Earth. Fun fact, this is one of the only waterfalls in West and South Iceland that still permits drones.

Hraunfossar is a series of waterfalls with water flowing below a lava field and right out of rocks. There are a couple of observation decks from where you can get good views and photographs. Walk to Barnafoss while you are here. Hike to waterfall is less than a minute from parking lot. Restaurant and toilet facilities available.
