We came to jökullsarlon to experience the icebergs on the glacier lagoon and booked a tour with Iceguide. Our Guide Reiner showed us some very scenic views and told us facts about the lagoon in a very friendly and relaxed way. The equipment was well maintained and clean and made us feel really safe and comfortable. The staff was really friendly and helpful before and after the tour. Also the price is appropriate and absolutely worth paying compared to the zodiac or amphibian tour since the guide took a lot of time for our tour.
An absolute must-do and a strong recommendation!!

We chose to explore Jokulsarlon by kayak rather than one of the power boat tours. We were not disappointed. Oskar guided us around the lagoon skilfully, allowing us to explore the icebergs safely and at our own pace but also stopping and imparting his knowledge as a local glacier guide too. As the last tour of the day, we had time to paddle right to the far side of the lagoon and back, exploring a large, newly-flipped iceberg. I can not recommend this company highly enough. We felt safe, comfortable and well-informed.

We had a Glacier Hike and Ice Cave Tour on the 4th of March 2020. The Tour startet at about 10 o'clock and our guide Oskar drove our 6 person group safely to the starting point. Even the drive off the normal roads was worth an experience. At the starting point Oskar made a short safety instruction and gave us our equipment. We started our hike. After a short period of time Oskar asked us whether we are in hurry. He offered us a special route to the beach of the glacier lagoon just in front of the glacier. After a hike over the glacier, where we also had plenty of time for taking pictures or asking questions, we arrived at the beach and had a short break. Great view, majestic place. On our way to the ice cave we also went over the glacier with our crampons and discovered some tunnels and holes in the ice. Until now we had the glacier all for ourself.
The hike continued to the ice cave. The cave itself was very crowded because it is actually easily accessible by a lot of companies which drive ice cave tours solely. Nice cave but as Oskar said a crowdy place.
Our way back to the car, we took "the glacier way" again.
Our trip ended about 1,5 hours later than actually plannned due to the special route.
It was a great experience, a great trip, a great guide and absolutely worth it.
Thank you Oskar, thank you iceguide.is

Found the kayaking on Heinebergslon lagoon after reading other travel blogs. Booked through Howlanders as didnt realise tour actually run by Ice Guide (would recommend booking directly with IceGuide).
Clear and easy to follow meeting details. Friendly and personable guides who helped suit us up in dry suits and boots. Bring hat/gloves/layers for underneath the drysuits.
Drove down to the lagoon in big 4x4 and quickly got out on the lagoon in kayaks. We had a fantastic time kayaking around the lagoon with the two guides who took us to see lots of different things and gave us a great backrgound into glaciers/icebergs etc. We were lucky to see ice cracks/caves and it was safe enough to be able to kayak into them. We also stopped and were able to get off the kayak and walk a little on the iceberg.
Would highly recommend this trip and would definitely recommend travelling to Heinebergslon for it. There were only 12 of us which was so nice - felt much more unique with a small group! Will be recommending to friends!

We enjoyed a wonderful tour in the Heinabergslón glacier lagoon in the beginning of August 2020. Our Guide was very professional, friendly and passionate. He had a great knowledge about the area, the glacier and even the overall geology of Iceland. We could feel that he is truly passionate about his job because of his personal interest in researching and finding out more about this unique lagoon (e.g. the bird population there).

Great highlights during the trip were the exploration of a large ice berg where we were able to walk on as well as a smaller ice berg that must have turned around just a day before, since its ice was still very blue (did not walk on that one of course).

Many thanks to team IceGuide for this incredible experience. We will for sure join one of your tours again some day.

BR,
Jenny & Patrick

The kayaking was amazing, what a fantastic experience! not to be missed. In addition to a fun and unique activity, the guide was extremely knowledgable, helpful, and fun to chat with! Everything went smooth, all equipment needed was provided and instructions were completely clear. Anyone in doubt you will not get wet and because of all the gear you won't be cold sitting in the kayak. When you're out in the water you'll pity all the folks who took the tour boats because being directly on the water, front row and with visiting seals is the only way to go!

His tour was the absolute highlight of my one week visit in Iceland this March. Oskar was knowledgable and very helpful in making sure all the guests on the tour had the best time on the ice cave tour. He was willing to stop when the light was great in the morning when we started off towards the glacier in order for me and other to take photos. Highly recommended.

This was one of the most amazing experiences!! My wife and I had calming and peaceful kayak in glacier lagoon. It was once in a lifetime. We did the private tour which was amazing. We had plenty of time and there was no rush. Kayaked around tons of glaciers and had around 15-20 seal interactions and sightings. Veronika was our guide and she was one of the top guides on our whole trip in all of Iceland. She was not only professional and knowledgeable, but also incredibly friendly and personal. A bonus…she is an incredible photographer and because we had the private tour she was able to get amazing pictures of us on the kayak. I will absolutely refer others to this tour and highly recommend Veronika.

We are a group of 5 Spanish visiting Iceland who did the ice cave and glacier walk tour on the 21st of March with ice guide Bjarni. We noticed his passion about the glacier and Icelandic culture. We highly recommend Bjarni and Iceguide.is as the tour was really well structured and Bjarni transmitted us not only the glacier history but the Icelandic history around them. He also ensured that we enjoyed the entire experience rather than focusing on the ice cave as a goal.
Thanks Bjarni, this is definitely the highlight of the trip!

Our guide Veronica was our own seal whisperer, I have never seen so many seals up close on small icebergs. We kayaked the harbor and had an awesome experience. Our guide captured so many great memories for us so we could enjoy the moment. 10 out of 10 would recommend.
