We were so looking forward to the Viking Village experience, but they fell short of what was posted. We took a bus down from Reykjavik as they indicated how much fun the restarurant was, with singing and horns of beer. We arrived on May 30th,...More

I really wanted to give this hotel a very good rating, the outside is quite impressive, the wood work and the presentation is excellent. However the inside and the service holds it back. The hotel is dated and from the decor and articles on display,...More

Quite an interesting place. We stayed in one of the lodge rooms and they were very comfortable. We had a little delay checking in due to the booking being lost, but the staff were extremely nice and gave us a few beers for the short...More

Really lovely stay in one of my favorite towns. Would give a 5 star (it’s not luxury but it’s perfect for a family stay) except... there was bedspace to sleep 5 but with no dressers it would feel a bit cramped. Definitely recommend this if...More

The hotel was smelly and dirty. My bathroom had a leak.. there was literally a puddle. The rooms were so small,I could hear the person next door snoring . The breakfast "buffet" had nothing but hard boiled eggs, SPOILED milk and a couple of fruit selections....More

Lovely place, warm, comfortable and very friendly, helpful staff. Rooms need a little bit more attention but all in all very nice stay. Breakfast is nice but limited compared to how big the hotel is. I will stay again though.

Slightly outside of the main town, this hotel offers very comfortable accommodation, friendly service and a lovely breakfast. The adjoining restaurant was superb, good food, excellent service and a lovely atmosphere. If you want something different to the standard, modern, soulless hotels, this place offers...More

We had wanted to go here for an old Viking experience but isn't what we thought from the web. We couldn't find the museum and then the restaurant was a bit hokey but only had fermented skate fish that day which smelled really bad so...More

We didn't stay here, but popped in for a nosey, restaurant next door did not open until 16:00 so we couldn't test any of the services etc. Hotel reception let us look round and explained what was on offer, like travelling into another world when...More

A little way off the main road the village is really worth a visit. While it may appear a bit kitsch on paper in reality it was a terrific experience. The little cafe at the entrance sold good coffee and snacks. Take a visit to...More

It is recommended to book, especially on weekends. Go to fjorukrain.is or Vikingvillage.is (don’t remember witch one) There is a direct local bus from Reykjavik to Hafnafjordur city centre and from there it is 5 min walk

I would say 15 minutes in a car and 20 to 30 minutes by bus. It’s on the direct number 1 bus route. Outdoor thermsl spar and pools is about 10 mins walk or 2 mina drive from Viking Village.
