Myself, my husband and our two boys (11 & 12) spent three amazing days on private tours with our fantastic guide, Gisli. We did the South Coast, Golden Circle and In a Nutshell tours and they all included great content/locations. Gisli was incredibly knowledgeable about the landscape and history of the country and an all-round great guy/guide! The experience of touring Iceland in our 'monster truck' was just brilliant and highly recommended by the whole family!

What an amazing experience. Travelling through such an amazing landscape with a man who knows and understands it so well. We learned so much. No question went unanswered from power station design to glacial erosion and from Sagas to Nobel Laureates. Local knowledge at its best from a man who has explored and experienced so much.
The truck itself was amazing..comfortable stylish and able to reach the most unlikely and beautiful places. Thank you Kristjàn for such a great day. We were lucky to have you for the day..

We couldn't have asked for a better day. We were picked up in a Ford Excursion with tires so large you knew Off-road was in your future. Our guide Gisli was beyond knowledgeable and we learned so much through his stories about not only the land, but science, geology and life in Iceland. We saw so much, never felt rushed and the glacier came to life under his retellings. I cannot say enough great things. This tour has the best of the Golden Circle and there is nothing more magical than being on a glacier.

Booked this tour months ago, and waiting at pick up point, but Mountain Taxi did not show. The tourist centre in Reykjavik helped us call, not once but twice, and eventually we were transferred to an Arctic Adventures tour. So, we have at least that to thank Mountain Taxi for. But nothing else. No calls to us, no emails explaining what went wrong. Just silence. So to be sure you enjoy your adventure, don’t bother with this group, head to Arctic Adventures instead.

We went on the trip that took us to the parliament site, geisyr, snowmobile and waterfall. Had a great day being chauffeured around in a massive American truck. Our driver was the owner and was very informative and very skilled at off road driving! Snowmobiles where great fun! Unfortunately the weather was cloudy and spoilt some of the amazing views but that couldn’t be helped. I saw some of other vehicles from different companies being driven around by some unexperienced drivers who were getting stuck on the ice. These guys have years of experience and the owner trains all the drivers himself. I would be slightly concerned about going with some of the other companies as their drivers seemed to be driving dangerously in the wrong conditions.....you will feel safe in the hands of Mountain Taxi.

This trip was booked last minute (about 1 hour before) as our scheduled trip was cancelled last minute. Our Hotel staff recommended this trip and told us that we would not be disappointed, That was an understatement!! Picked up by our guide, Ragner we travelled to places off the beaten track which we would never had found ourselves. His knowledge was excellent and informative. He ensured that we were all happy with the plans and nothing was too much trouble. We travelled as a small group which was perfect especially as the rest of the trip we had travelled by the coach load. Lunch was at the Husafell Hotel which we thoroughly enjoyed. We then continued with the trip up to the ice glacier and had a whale of a time. The weather conditions turned quickly and quite dramatically to a stage where we were in the middle of a white out. Unfortunately, our vehicle got stuck on the glacier and despite Ragner's best efforts, nothing would shift it. He tried in treacherous conditions to shovel the snow from the vehicle in an effort to free it but to no avail, Backup was desperately needed in the shape of three rescuers who eventually managed to free us after quite some time. Eventually we were on our way back to the Husafell Hotel for a complimentary meal and refreshments paid for by Mr Mountain Taxi himself as a thank you for our patience. Once fed and watered we continued back on our journey (by this time it was nightfall). Quite by chance the sky began to change and we were encased by an incredible show of northern lights. Ragner immediately pulled over and we all experienced this phenomenal sight. Despite the late hour and his obvious exhaustion, nothing was too much trouble and he saw it as a thank you to us as a group for all our support over that crazy afternoon/evening. Although we didn't complete our trip, what we experienced was unique and unforgettable. Every emotion experienced and afterwards in the bar, our group talked about nothing else. Thanks to Ragner, to Terry and his wife, to Linda (Who we almost lost on numerous occasions and who we threatened to put on a lead) and the young Swedish Doctor and his son for making it an absolutely unforgettable experience, Ragner you are a star and a credit to Mountain Taxis. We hope you have recovered from your trauma !!

I was in the group that Anil K mentions in a previous review, and fully endorse what Anil K has written.
From initially booking the tour, both Bjork and Kristjan could not have been any more helpful. I cannot say in words how much I will be recommending Mountain Taxi to my friend who intend to travel to Reykjavik.
A great time had by all. An added bonus that Kristjan managed to get a great picture of the whole group under the Northern Lights, priceless.

We travelled to Iceland in a group of 8 and booked two tours with the Mountain Taxi team and on both occasions Krystian was fantastic. His knowledge of this great country is second to none.from dealing with Mountains Taxi over the week we quick found out there aren't just after your money and really want you to experience Iceland as we found out on our northern lights tour.
Golden Circle tour and going in to the Mountain for our snowmobile activity was an experience and driving in over 2 meters of snow was one of the highlights of the trip mainly due to the experience of Krystian.
Our northern lights tour was meant to be on Thursday but due to weather/cloud kept getting pushed back and we went out on Sunday. We didn't mind this as Krystian was in constant contact and adviced us if there wasn't going to be a chance of seeing them then he pushed the date back.Due too him doing this for 20 years and his contacts around Iceland he knew the exact locations to take us and we saw them on our first visit to Iceland.
Big Thank You from all off us.

My mother (who happens to be a geologist) and I used this service in order to go near the Eljafjatlajokutl volcano (that could not be approached by helicopter on that day) during our stay in Iceland back in Feb 2011.
It really was a special highlight of our time on the island. Our guide took us to where no other vehicule could have gone and showed us some amazing glaciers, crossing rivers and going at speed on grounds that no usual vehicle could dream of tackling, not even by Top Gear's standards!
He also showed us some amazing pictures of the last volcanic erruption on his tablet, explaining what had happened then.
Highly recommended, especially if you are into geology! :)

We booked the Jeep with Iceland 4 you . And Mountain Taxi Jeep took us out. My self and my wife took the tour for only the two of us it was expensive at 900.00 euro but well worth it for the exclusive tour and the guide Asgeir was full of knowledge with regard to Icelandic history and the recent volcanic irruption from the volcano Eyjafjallajokkull . We drove off rode and to the foot of the Glacier over deep rivers and lava fields to see water falls and visit the golden water fall. This was a fantastic adventure . You can share the Jeep with up to 6 persons and that will make it more fordable when sharing the cost . I recommend the Jeep tour full day some 10 hrs Brilliant try it..
