If you come to Geysir, you must wait for the show that Strokkur presents nearly every 7-10 minutes guaranteed 24 hours a day. The eruption happens regularly but they are short in duration, perhaps lasting only around 15-20 seconds and then it repeats itself. The...More

This geysir goes off every few minutes - great fun to watch! There were also completely frozen benches that were quite amusing to take pictures with nearby. It's easily accessible and plenty of room for people to gather round.

We visited as part of the trip to the Golden Circle. The largest Geysir errupts frequently and is impressive to view. We were fortunate as there were relatively few tourist visiting at the same time as us and we could wander around freely not in...More

Such a cool location. There are bubbling holes everywhere but the centrepiece is this giant geysir which goes off every 10 minutes or so. Well worth standing there waiting for it to go off.

Absolutely worth a stop while in the golden circle. The geyser erupts every few minutes and is fantastic to watch. The gift shop and restaurant is very busy and rather expensive. Be prepared for long queues if you need to use the female toilets, that...More

Strokkur is part of a very active geothermal area with minor eruptions about every 15 or so minutes, while we were there. We went on an incredibly frigid day around sunrise and had incredible lighting for photos which made for a rather surreal experience /...More

Great place to visit. Only place outside of Yellowstone that I know of truly known for its Gesyers. Strokkur is the active geyser in the area but is right next to Geysir where all other geysers get their name. Geysir is no longer active, but...More

Hi, Strokkur is the geysir. It's also close to Gullfoss Falls (10-15 min drive). We stayed at the geysir hotel which is right across the road. Hope that helps!
