We took the Gatwick to Akureyri route in November and stayed in Akureyri for 3 nights. We wanted to see as much as possible in a short period of time so we decided to book two brilliant tours through Star Travel. The northern lights tour and lake Myvatn( nature baths) tour. The northern lights tour was a three hour night tour. Our guide was knowledgeable warm , friendly and professional. Even though the main focus was on the northern lights our guide told us more about the different areas, the people and the culture and even gave us a typical local delicacy to eat while we waited for the lights. The second tour was the lake Myvatn tour which included of couple hours at the nature baths. Our guide was patient friendly and professional. I highly recommend Star Travel to anyone travelling to Akureyri

We did an all-day 12-hour+ tour of Askja and the region with Thor (Thordur). It was a great trip into country that we would have had difficulty reaching on our own, and Thor is both a great guide and nice guy. He is very knowledgeable and engaging, and was also very considerate of our needs and interests. The lava fields, the pumice fields, the rivers, old structures, Thor's stories, the amazing hidden waterfall that he showed us, and the Caldera and scenery of Askja were all amazing.

Reynir of Star Travel provided a spectacular tour of Akureyri and Lake Myvtan area. We ended up being 2 couples and a nearly private tour. We had an amazing time seeng the sites not to be missed: Lake Myvtan; Godafoss, Dettifoss and Sellifoss waterfalls. Spent a good amount of time and wasn't rushed.  Visited the nature baths. Didn't spend time in the town itself but would our next trip. Might head back to try to see the Northern Lights with Reynir.

My wife and I spent 4 days touring Iceland with Reynir in August. We had a fantastic time. Reynir met us at our Cruise ports each day on time and ready to tour. We visited many of the "must see" attractions as well as travelling in the more remote areas. Reynir is a great guide; very knowledgeable, easy going, flexible and accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Iceland with Reynir and hope to return. I would highly recommend Reynir as a guide. Phil & Carol

Went on two separate tours with Reynir. First we did the Northern Lights tour, which Reynir was very accommodating and experienced on. We used prediction apps that said we had less than 20% chance to see the lights and we’re getting discouraged until Reynir showed up boasting a 90% certainty that we would see them. I thought he was just talking big because he’s a tour guide. We ended up seeing the most amazing and powerful lights. The next day, Reynir took us on the tour of Godafoss, Dettifoss, Mud Fields, Myvatn, and Hot Spring. Throughout the entire trip, Reynir was a delight. He was friendly, funny, and chatty, but not in an obnoxious way by any means. Showed a genuine love for the area and the job and moved at our pace. I wish we could bring him around with us everywhere. Must do.

We’ve just had such a brilliant day touring around the Myvatn area today! Reynir was so much fun and knowledgable and patient - with Andy’s jokes and me forever stopping to take photos! He even managed to find me the most amazing Icelandic horses to photograph! Thank you for making our day so memorable! 😊🙏🏻

Before travelling to Iceland, we had booked a day trip to Dettifoss waterfall with another local company but they had asked Reynir, from Star Travel, to take us out for the day instead, as he has the best vehicles for this tour and we were really impressed and thankful that he was our guide for the day. He arrived promptly at our hotel to pick us up and returned us back there at the end of the trip over 9 hours later! Throughout the day he provided appropriate "comfort" stops to purchase any food we may need and make use of the bathroom facilities. He was very knowledgeable of the area, telling us many interesting and special facts. He was a very competent driver in the harsh winter conditions and was amazing negotiating the road down to Dettifoss. It was fantastic being in such a small group as Reynir was very happy to adapt the itinerary to included any special requests we had of places to visit en route. We were never rushed at any places; we could spend as long as we liked to appreciate the amazing scenery and had time to take as many photographs that were wanted to. I would not hesitate to book more tours with Reynir / Star Travel when we visit Iceland again. He provides a wonderful experience and is a great ambassador for his beautiful country. During the winter months you need to be well prepared with regards to the clothing and especially the footwear you wear, as the conditions can be very harsh. During our time travelling in the jeep, we could see the temperature was at it's highest -5C and it got down to -9C at times. However we were comfortably warm enough in the jeep while travelling from place to place. While hiking to Dettifoss and Selfoss the effort of walking through the deep snow meant we were also warm enough! It was so peaceful exploring these places in such a small group. It was an excellent day made possible by this amazing company.

We took the all in one tour with Reynir last week. It was brilliant! Really good value for money and we never felt rushed. There’s a lot of companies offering similar tours but we were not disappointed by this one, it went to all the stops we had hoped for around the Myvatn area like the mud pools, craters, dark city and cave pools, plus some extra stops for photo opportunities and refreshments. The nature baths were also worth the extra money, much quieter and less expensive than the Blue Lagoon in the south. If you’re looking for a winter tour with lots of stops on the diamond circle then this tour is fantastic.

Reynir picked up two of us from our Akureyri's accommodation to take us to Diamond Circle trip.
Everything was perfect. Sunny September day, nature and great patience and attention from Reynir. We especially liked Asbyrgi canyon. Highly recommended trip with Star Travel.

I went on the Lake Myvatn tour and it was probably the best tour I went on when I was in Iceland.

I initially booked through Star Travel because the price was a bit cheaper. Some people equate cheaper with a larger or "worse" tour but this was actually the opposite. It one of the best tours I had while in Iceland. Star Travel is a newer tour company and not as well known. This leads to a smaller tour group at a great price.

Reynir is the owner of Star Travel and he was also my tour guide. I had sent a few e-mails to him before my trip and he replied within 24 hours. Great communication!

Due to high winds in Akureyri, flights into the city were cancelled the previous day. As a result, I was the only person on the tour. I had this happen with other tour companies (I was the only person who signed up or the others couldn't show) and they either cancelled the tour or made other arrangements to put me with another group. I didn't like this as there was a rush to change my plans and sometimes I was in a larger group than I had originally wanted. This DID NOT happen with Reynir and Star Travel! He came to pick me up at as scheduled and I had a private tour! You definitely CANNOT get this type of customer service with larger tour companies.

We went to all the sights in Lake Myvatn and even made a few extra stops because we had time as I was the only person. He let me spend as long as I wanted at each stop, was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. He said if I want to stop anywhere to take pictures or look at something on the way to just let him know and he'll stop. And he did!

I found out why it can be safer to take a tour company than self drive. When we got to the mountains the weather was bad. I'm from Canada where I am used to driving in winter weather but this was tricky. It went from rain, to snow, to crazy snow/ice very quickly. The winds were super strong and at some points I couldn't tell where the road ended and the off road or lake began. Roads are randomly closed due to weather and he pointed out roads that were just recently closed due to the storm the past few days. I was happy to have an experienced driver that day.

I found out during the tour that his family owns a small guesthouse and gift shop in Akureyri too. I didn't stay there but if you're looking for a place to stay you could check that out.

I'd definitely book with Star Travel again. As a smaller company, you can't beat the smaller tour groups and amazing customer service. Thanks for an amazing tour!
