About Viking Heliskiing Iceland
Viking Heliskiing specializes in heliskiing trips in the north part of Iceland. Troll Peninsula is our main heli-skiing area, a world class skiing area with thousands of slopes waiting for their first descents. Viking has a powerful team of skilful and experienced ski guides, specializing in challenging conditions. The Troll peninsula, our main skiing area, has variable terrain to offer and choices that should fit all types of skiers. During winter you can ski until it is dark and watch the majestic northern lights dance in the sky. In the springtime, there is nothing like skiing down slopes in between the towering peaks, ending the ride where the shoreline meets the North Atlantic.

I wanted to try heliskiing for the first time and I was doing research on the web in order to find a suitable destination. Based on various articles and videos, it looked like Iceland would be a superb place to try it out: great powder or corn snow, low avalanche risk, amazing landscapes, lots of great skiable terrain, ability to ski down to the sea and located not too far from Switzerland where I live. So I decided to book a package with Viking Heliskiing. The experience was just amazing and I feel like it pretty much changed my life forever. The staff was really friendly, the guides were super competent and attentive and all the guests I skied with were very likeable people. It wasn't only the skiing but also all the other things and the social experience around it that made it so special. This was the first season Viking organized the accommodation at the Sigló hotel. The hotel is brand new and of high quality. The food in the hotel restaurant where we had dinner every night was great, offering a good mix of seafood and other things. The hotel has a nice hot tub where you can relax after a day of skiing. With heliskiing there is the fact that on some days the weather does not permit flying. I was lucky to have great weather most of the time but there was one down day too. It is a good idea to take this into account and not make your stay too short. If you can't ski on one day, you can max out your skiing on another day to compensate.

Heliskiing with the Vikings was one amazing experience. We had a blast staying at their beautiful lodges, especially cuz they have hot tubs :) In general the people are very friendly, they do everything to make your trip special. The guides take you to the best slopes and the best snow they can find! Highly recommended!!

I came here from California to celebrate my dad's 66th birthday and I cannot say enough about our experience. Viking Heliskiing exceeded expectations from start to end. We had an easy pick up at the Akureyri airport and an easy drive up to the stunning lodge. The service is on point, the lodging perfect and best of all was the staff. I loved our guides! I loved the chefs! I loved the helicopter pilot! Thank goodness we decided to pull the trigger and try skiing in new place, it was well worth it! Pro tip: Icelandic weather can be quite variable! We had two beautiful, bright sunny days and a couple with grayer skies. It turned out perfect to book the lodge for 4 days - we had two amazing days of of brilliant heli skiing, one day of foggier ski touring and a down day where we went for a chill drive along the coast with stops in hot springs and little villages. Do yourself a favor and add a couple days to your stay to ensure your best chances with the weather!

One run! Only one run for $3,500.+ for a 20 second helicopter ride to top of moutain, 20 seconds back to lodge. (A signed contact guaranteeing minimum 4 runs...again, only one run). Husbands rented ski was not fitted properly. Quide/owner broke out his Swiss army knife at top of mtn.to adjust the non-fitted ski, which didnt work. Needed the assistance of guide/owner's assistance down the mtn. Immediately upon the helicopter ride back to lodge, guide was in communication with lodge to have another guest to be ready to take our place. At lodge, guide/owner obviously had other interests to tend to, as in other guests. Quite rude as host. We felt he just couldn't be bothered with us. No offering of anything to drink at dinner, charged us another $200. for ski rental and wine at dinner. Hot tub in shared cabin was in non-working order. Spent most of our experience sittting around the lodge with nothing to do.Just the worst, most costly and disappointing experience ever. March time frame.
