Its a pleasant walk to the botanical gardens which are well maintained, with plenty of seats, to relax and take in the views. I was a little disappointed as I expected to see incredible colours of the flowers, I was there late summer, so I...More

Peonies and lilacs in bloom in July? You must be in Iceland. It was very fun to see plants in bloom mid-summer that are spring bloomers in the United States. Excellent garden with lots of flowers in bloom. Plants were well marked and many plants...More

Amazing hillside setting and beautiful layout. Spent hours there and the cafe is lovely. Free entry and a myriad of great plants, interestingly laid out.

When I realized I was only fifty kilometers south of the Arctic Circle, I was pretty amazed at the colors and varieties offered by this lush green space. I have to admit I was having trouble finding it from my hotel near the city center...More

There are many beautiful flowers here, both native and imported. The lupine were especially beautiful. This is a family friendly place with both paved and dirt paths through the wooded property, stroller and bike accessible. There is a small cafe for picking up lunch or...More

The gardens are quite small, but nicely laid out, and the number of flowers blooming was astonishing, as were the huge numbers of bees. Free entry, too, which is wonderful, considering how everything else in Iceland costs several arms and legs. We were exceptionally lucky...More

We were surprised at how beautiful this garden was. The flowers were blooming and there were paths to wander around on. There were even lovely views of the fjord. If you have some time while you are in Akureyri, this is definitely worth the time.

This is a fairly small botanical garden that is organized by plants growing at a certain altitude in Iceland. Certain areas are a riot of colors but having cycled along the shores of a number of fjords I was not surprised. There is a coffee...More

I was astounded by the number of plants, in bloom no less. I found four colors of the State of Colorado's flower. Some truly striking blooms.

We spent 9 days traveling all over Iceland and this was by far the best coffee "house" we found! What a hidden gem. Highly recommend stopping here for a coffee/beer/sandwich, etc. It is the cutest cafe in the middle of the botanical gardens!

No. They put prices in there own currency, and expect people to be able to deal with that accordingly. We had cash with us, but we also had a standby of prepaid 'cash cards'. Ours were cashcards in £ sterling, so that we... More
