Midsummer must be one of the choicest times of the year here. What we saw was a dazzling array of specimen plants in all blooming at one time. The winding paths amid plantings and pools at the Arctic Botanical Gardens were alive with a glorious display of color . A surprising number of children were there, some with parents, some... More

Fabulous flowers and foliage- for free or donation. A sweet, quiet wandering walk through well-tended gardens. We hunted for the Icelandic native plants garden. The architecturally inviting restaurant within the grounds, offered soothing mushroom soup, salad, and hearty bread. Don't miss the hot chocolate topped with rich whipped cream!

Can't believe the effort and dedication that goes into creating this eye catching flower haven for such a short season each year with do much plant prep and replanting to achieve s riot of color in the wheelbarrows, paths and glades. Just taking an inventory of the staff one realizes how many employees are hard at work making this happen.... More

We missed this attraction on our first visit to Akureyri but it is well worth finding and spending several hours. Beautiful plants and flowers in a wonderful setting. To find it, walk up the steps to the main church and keep walking up the street behind the church.

We visited this Garden park in Akureyri last week. We were just wandering around the city and I had seen it on the map and wanted to stop. What a surprise! it was SO large, and my favorite part was how the sections were grouped off by world regions. We LOVED the simplicity of the plants included in each section... More

Bucket-List it and go...like as soon as you can! I went with a fiend and had the most wonderful time as I always do in Akureyri, especially here.

This botanical garden is obviously a local favorite. On a (relatively) warm and sunny day, loads of families were milling about. It sports interesting flowers and some statuary. It only takes a few minutes to enjoy.

This was a nice botanical gardens. I had planned to take a day trip from Akureryi but we had some issues that prevented that. To fill my day this was one of the places I found. Very cute. Pretty flowers. Well kept and free. The walk up was nice as well. It's just not anywhere near as spectacular as the... More
