An outstanding whale watching experience in a breathtaking location, Keli Seatours (in partnership with Whales.is) bring generations of experience of sailing in harmony with the whales of Eyjafjordur, one of the longest and most beautiful fjords in Iceland. Compared with whale watching tours departing from Reykjavik and Husavik, sailing from Hauganes is a vastly preferable experience, as the narrow fjord means that the boat will be much more quickly in range of the whales, rather than needing a lengthy journey to first get to the feeding grounds. That means a much better chance of a prolonged encounter with these majestic mammals, rather than half of the sailing or more being set aside for the "commute" to get there. Even without sight of any whales or dolphins, the stunning scenery rewards a sailing with Keli Seatours, with impressive mountain ranges rising steeply on both sides of the fjord. These mountains also provide a windbreak (except for when the northerlies are blowing), making it a calmer and more peaceful experience too. Halldor was our guide on this journey, and he provided a very entertaining commentary as we made our way from Hauganes to the edge of Hrisey and back. It wasn't very long before we heard a blowhole exhalation and had our first sight of a number of humpbacks as they glided around the fjord, feeding and diving as they wished. The boat captain did his best to get us as close as possible, without disturbing the whales, and respecting their space. It was a glorious way to spend a Saturday morning and one that is highly recommended if you find yourself in North Iceland. The boats are well-equipped, spacious, comfortable and stable, with flotation suits provided, along with coffee, hot chocolate and cakes. An excellent experience.

The family ran company really gives you the best experience along with history of the area. The owners spent time and money restoring the family boat to put it back in service. They want you to have a great experience whale watching sing with learning about their heritage! Their experience on the water allows you to get right up close to the whales without them getting scared and diving down. If you are looking for a whale watching tour you will not be disappointed!!! 👌🏽🇮🇸

You MUST absolutely book with these Guys. They are super-friendly. They love their country so much. The boat from their father has been restored exquisitely, and is a tribute. In the odd chance there is nothing to be spotted, they will be as dissappointed as you are, and give you a second chance, when you have the time available, and when there is room on the boat of course. My sons and I had a terrific time on board. The captain made me think about captain haddock, and makes part of the trip worthwhile. The trip did not feel commercial at any moment, which made it even more value for the money. When you are around Akureyri, Book a trip with Keli Tours! People like this are hard too find nowadays ! I wish them good fortune and nothing but the best. Aye aye Guys !

We just had a blast. Not only were the captain and guide super personable and funny, it was easy to book and find. They transported us by van to the ship closer to the area where we could spend more time on the water. The landscape was beautiful, we saw humpback and minke whales- and a cute little seal. Warm suits for the trip, coffee, cocoa and cookies onboard (with a bathroom as well). Would highly recommend and send all my friends in their direction!

Whale watching with Keli Sea Tours was an excellent choice. They picked us up at the harbor near the visitors building. We rode a van to where the boat is docked about 45 minutes away. We were provided a jump suit to protect from the elements ( it rained the entire two days before). We were out on the water and in place to see the whales and within minutes the whale appeared. We joked that they must have opened the cage because he appeared on cue. There were about 5 sightings for our trip we felt very lucky. I would highly recommend Keli for whale watching in northern Iceland.
