The rough drive trough a endless rocky landscape is more rewarding then the site itself. Had to pay for parking and the pool was so disappointing we did not even go in. The staff is not helpfull at all. I would recommend to take the drive to Landmanlauger and enjoy the natural pool there. It's actually more like a river.... More

Enough is enough. In Iceland many hotel (in this case it’s in the new Hut…new is just a word…a better word would be poor) are in special places. That’s great but not enough for the price they ask us to pay. And here in Hveravellir 250$ - 230 euros for a ugly room …it’s such a shame !!! Yes, the... More

We booked a room in the new facility. It was extremely disappointing. For 200eur, you share the restaurant toilets and if you have the crazy idea to want a shower, then you have to go outside!! The service was very poor from the start: cold welcome, no explanation, no free wifi, they did not give the door code for the... More

We stayed in the old hut on July 25th. All was good until a group of 18 people arrived as part of the tour group. They basically acted as the owner of the place, using the full kitchen, being noisy and showing lack of respect to others. Facilities incl. toilets are not sufficient to accommodate so many people. I can... More

This is a short drive off of F35 in the center of Iceland. When you have the option to turn to drive to Hveravellir it is worth the side trip. This is an enticing geothermal area with fumaroles, hot pools, camping, a restaurant, facilities, and one place to take a hot pool bath (with no changing area). This is also... More

A truly fantastic place. Amidst barren lands in the central Icelandic highlands lies a hot spring area, with a nice camping and a small cafe. Best of all is a heavenly little geothermal pool, with perfect bathing water directly from the hot springs. You don't want to miss this!

Hveravellir is a thermal area on Route 35 across the Island. A very beautiful trip that you can drive with a 4x4 car. Hveravellir is the best accommodation on route. There is a camping area, and you can hire sleeping place in cabins. It is a very beautiful place with views of the glaciers, and you can pitch your tent... More

When you want to really get in touch with nature and have time to travel, this is a great place to discover the wonders of nature, geothermal bath in the middle of "nowhere"! Basic accommodation and great people makes this a perfect stop just because or on the way traveling north/south of Iceland and outside the Reykjavik area.

Stayed at the old mountain hut. Basic accommodation but that was our choice. The new hut has private rooms with shared bathroom but is a slightly more expensive option. The old hut is very cosy and had the added benefit of being right next to the reserve's geothermal bathing pool which we used later that evening and had the best... More

We were driving the Kjolur Route and stopped at this site to see the geothermal area and take a short dip in the hot springs. The geothermal area was nice. The hot springs were small but decent. The bathroom facilities were ok, but the men's shower area was broken and nasty. There is a small area where you can buy... More
