The Forum Marinum Maritime Centre is a lively and versatile centre for maritime activities, comprising a national special maritime museum, and the Finnish Navy Museum.

In addition to being a maritime place of interest, the Forum Marinum is also a venue for meetings and public events. The Cafe Restaurant Daphne serves cafe delicacies and a tasty, varied buffet lunch. The Museum Shop offers maritime gifts and other articles, literature and high-quality textiles.

The museum provides several interesting temporary exhibitions during a year and displays also a very interesting boat collection. The maritime centre has a considerable collection of museum vessels: two tall sail ships, four naval ships and several smaller vessels, ranging from a steam harbour tugboat to a police boat. The museum ships are open during the summer months only, while the exhibitions are open throughout the year.

Interesting if you wanna know Turku more

Just 1 min by walk from Turku Castle. Exceptionally nice cafe and nice view along side river. Interested in ship building history of Finland, just go to museum inside the cafe.

This is probably the best maritime museum I' have visited. Very complete with sections about all aspects of boats (from sailboats to cruise ships, war, transport or fishingships) and those who navigate on them. The place is very large and contains numerous large boats that you can see closely. Unexpected in such a small town and probably one of the... More

I just walked by the Forum Marinum Maritime Centre wheb going to the Turku Castle. I took a fast glance around and took couple of photos. I guess it's a place where one could spend a hour or two; there seemed to be interesting vessels around.

We only entered into the two military ships and it was very interesting and fun! If you have kids they are going to love it! The entrance for the 2 military ships is 6€ and they close at 7PM. It takes you about an hour. If you are visiting all the ships it'll take much longer that that!

This is a nice place to tour ships, and discover some Finnish maritime heritage. There is also a really good buffet there in front of the old ship. If you would rather simply have a beer and a good sandwich, you can purchase take out from the cashier in the buffet. The day that we were there they had excellent... More

The ships were awesome and they actually had the descriptions of things in English. The museum was also well done. We ate at the buffet in the museum. The manager was very nice and the buffet was ok.

This maritime museum is definitely worth a visit, not only the exhibitions but also the building is interesting. And the jewel is the old windjammer Suomen Joutsen moored in the Aura river.

I went during April, unfortunately a lot of the attractions were closed. However you can see the main building which has a good display of ship building history. You can also go on one ship.

Next to the Maritime Museum of Finland in Kotka the Forum Marinum near the river Aura and Turku's Castle is the most important place to visit for anybody interested in all that matters with Finlands connection to the sea. There is so much to see (and read), that one could easily spend several hours here, especially in summer, when the... More
