The architecture is very interesting and pleasing. Lots of round corners and shapes. Plenty of red bricks has been used as the building material. Good job by the architects (Pietilä) and by the city of Tampere for the courage to implement the architect's vision. On the other hand, the functionality of the library is poor. It is not welcoming and... More

This is the main Library in city of Tampere. It is located right next to the park (Hämeenpuisto). There is a lot of space and many places to sit down and enjoy the silence.

Biggest library in town for book lovers. There are auditoriums as well for talks etc, and a cafe upstairs to fuel up for more research. In the entrance lobby there is a "recycled" books stand where you can take your old ones or grab one that catches your fancy.

This is my favourite library that I have visited in Finland. Even though the mathematics and science selection is limited, the atmosphere and layout of the library is fantastic. For both travellers and residents it is the perfect place to read, study and have a coffee. Yes there is even a cafe upstairs where art is often on display.

If you need local books in several langagues this the place. A bohemian architecture invites you to read magazines and literature in any format. The manga collection in young section is always popular. You can read also to your pet in private room. There also room for music experts.

Metso Library is an building designed by the architect Reima and Raili Pietilä, Which when viewed from the sky looks like the capercaillie bird. For travelers the library offers news papers and magazines to read and coffee.

The building is worth to see. Red bricks and curves. Metso also has a good cafe with homemade cookies.
