Museum represents history of how Moomin story has been written and illustrated. I expect from museum something else, but it was interesting in own way. We were with teenagers, perhaps it was a bit boring to them as all illustration has description book which suppose to be read to understand what exactly illustration was meant for. Personally for me it... More

Walked in just to check one Moomin painting by Tove Jansson, but ended up spending an hour: either me or the children wanted to leave and the guides kept finding new details from the tableaux to check out!

Thank you for your visit and comments! You still have some time to come and check few more details before the museum closes 30th Oct 2016. The new Moomin Museum will open at Tampere Hall May 2017 and welcomes all Moomin fans! More

The museum is interesting to see but i find it pricey for what it has to offer. Its a little bit small considering that they combined it with a Moomin museum. I hope they improve it and put more moomin toys to play considering that majority of their market will be children.

Nice to hear that you found the museum interesting. The Moominvalley museum had to move into temporary, smaller premises in 2013. We are looking forward to better future though! The museum will become Moomin Museum and will get modern premises where the unique collection by Tove Jansson can be better presented. The Moominvalley will be closed for the move in... More

Visited this Moomin exhibition mainly to accompany my friend who likes Moomins. I'm not a Moomin expert and after visiting this museum I am none the wiser. The exhibits and art work were nice but the lack of information about Moomins or how they were created was not really helpful. Even my friend who likes Moomins wanted some more information... More

the place is small, but it is neatly arranged. the collections are quite complete, from comic strip drawing to oil-based paintings. all drawings are original and signed by the Author. there are three languages for directions, Finnish, Swedish, and Japanese. I came on museum day on May 18th, so I got free entrance.

I've visited the art museum of Tampere on several occasions, and I was never disappointed. The collections are always interesting, very well displayed, and the space is spotlessly clean. The air always clean (sometimes old buildings have a peculiar scent in them; not this one). The staff are friendly, although some of the personnel keeping an eye on the paintings... More

Last time i have been visiting in Moominvalley was about 20 years ago when I was a child. Now I heard that museum moves to new premises end of this year and so I wanted to see the "old version". Museum was smaller that I except, but there was a lot of old orginal dravings. If you don't know Moomins... More

The moomin section of the art museum is small but its lovely to see the sketches which make up the moomins. As well as this, there's also a large recreation of the Moomin house

The museum is very interesting. It has several installations and sketches. Despite its small size, it is a nice place to look on the process of creation of world famous comics.

The Moominvalley is a relatively small collection of the original Moomin illustrations, housed in the basement of the Tampereen taidemuseo (the city’s art gallery). It is quite a nice space, with the lighting arrangement creating a certain atmosphere, and it deserves an hour or so of any Moomin fan’s time, or anyone who has a vague interest in the quirky...
