this is a complex of industrial buildings given a new life. There is a difficulty in finding your way about but give yourself a bit of time. The shops and bars and eateries will suit most people. This is not a one stop shop there are many more attractions on the different levels here than one visit will find.

The Finlayson area offers an interesting peek into the industrial history of Tampere and all of Finland. The Finlayson side (west of the river) has many of the buildings from various periods restored and reclaimed for new uses such as office space, restaurants and a movie theatre. Check also the insides of the Siperia building, shopping centre Siperia, which mostly... More

If I think of Tampere, it´s Finlayson industrial area which comes to my mind first. Setting is amazing and so is the architecture. Nowadays the place is full with restaurants, shops and Finlayson itself runs an outlet store, which is defenitely worth visiting.

If you have not been in the Finlayson area, you have not visited Tampere. It is the heart of the city. Going to the area is a time travel to the past. From the old factory milieu can be found in museums, galleries, movie theater and restaurants.

Gives you a nice look into Tampere's history as a industrial city. You will love it if you like harsh industrial look with red tiled buildings. Nice to have a quick walk around. There are some great restaurants (I recommend especially Plevna) in the area, some museums and a movie theatre.
