A good museum full of interactive displays that makes the maritime history spring into life. We've especially enjoyed the cruise simulator. The staff was helpful and pleasant. The only thing I missed was for the interactive parts to be translated into English, many are in Finnish only, not taking the tourists into consideration.

This is how to keep an aging museum up to date. A great many museums have dusty exhibits in glass cases and Rauma is no different but here the difference is that there are many interactive items for young and old alike. This museum is not in the 'old town' but close to the center but easily missed. Its not... More

We forget so easily with how few tools people travelled the seas and yet went everywhere. This gives a good impression but is limited of course.

This a beautiful small museum: the rooms and exhibitions are beautiful and captivating. The museum is not trying cover it all, but it certainly gives fascinating glimpses to history Rauma seafaring and seafarers in a nice way. We really enjoyed seeing this cosy and interesting museum!

Located in a previous maritime school building the museum is quite interesting with a lot of small things to see - a guided tour woild probably be preferable. Upstairs there is a simulator - You can try to get a boat to the New York harbour, for instance

It was nice to visit the old school of maritime, where my grandfather did study and later work as principal. The museum has large collection of experience on people working in sailing ships in the 18th and early 19th centuary. Interesting, really.

I recommend this museum because it has most beautiful way of putting the things and history to be looked at. The size of the building is not very big but it is thoroughly planned. They have IMO used excellently modern computer technology and made it show the history in a pleasant manner. As a hobbyist of photography I like to... More

There is letters to read written by young seamen. Didnt really realize how young they where when they sailed to different parts of world.

Museum has has good exhibition and there are loads of things to look at especially if intrested in maritime history. At the the top floor there is also a vessel simulator where one can steer a ship. Special children's experience tours arranged during summertime.

The Maritime Museum of Rauma is a small but very high quality museum. The exhibit never changes, but covers a large portion of Raumas naval past with souvenirs from far-away lands, models of ships, maps, interactive infopoints and a fully equiped naval simulator. The simulator is located upstairs and can be used with the help of the friendly staff. Truly... More
