New Fateful Svenksund exhibition was great, have to give 5/5 points for team who have done this modern exhibition! Loved the interactive map table, several items from the wreck and how exhibition was built up like under the see.

Vellamo is also filled with excellent Basic exhibition and building itself it sight too.

If you are in to sea, boats and ships - prepair to spend several hours here.

Museum is organized in a clever way, it is a mixture of temporary exhibitions and regular collections. The space is projected so well, that it was comfortable to stay their for several hours. Besides several rooms are designed specially for children. All signs are in Finnish and English, so many options to learn about old vessels and modern ships.

Building itself is sight, nice mosaic wood stairway ect. And the museum with all the Maritime history and real boats like icebraker Tarmo ect is worth to spend Day here. Interactive things made kids also happy. There's also General museum inside, reserve some time for that too.

A really good interactive museum that kept young kids entertained throughout. They loved the sea-monster exhibition which was a mix between a soft play and educational area. There are lots of activities to get involved with and the kids loved it. The museum is well designed and is modern and clean; in fact it is an architectural masterpiece from the outside. A really nice mix of exhibitions from local history to the coastguard, to boats and art. Thoroughly recommended for a young family.

We came on a windy day with a lot of snow and enjoyed lunch before looking around.
Professional and good place, not everything in english but still okay.
We did not go outside - looked to be worth a visit though.

A museum not just for the nautically inclined as there are other exhibitions covering finnish life. The old motor boats were a particular joy. Well worth a visit and surprisingly cheap. There is a café and a separate ship museum but that is an additional cost.
