This beautiful 116-year-old Hietalahti Market Hall serves now as a cafe and restaurant concentration.

International kitchens offer delicious flavors around the world. You can find Japanese, Portuguese, Italian, French and Middle Eastern cuisine.

The popular Hietalahti flea market is located next to the Market Hall.

I had a lunch with a friend at Mama’s Pho restaurant ( an Asian restaurant). There were several interesting restaurants and it was difficult to choose. The Markethall was quite busy at lunch time, almost all tables in all restaurants were full. We both had chicken in oyster sauce and noodles. The portion was beautiful and balanced, enough chicken and and greens which were fresh. I will come to the Markethall againnand will try other restaurants!

One restaurant is absolutely my favourite in Hietalahden kauppahalli and I have noticed that so many other people have same opinion. Le Marché has the best salads in Helsinki! Wonderful service! See you soon.

Casual dining is offered by several restaurants serving Asian, Portuguese and Mediterranean dishes for lunch and dinner. They seem to have survived though the once popular flea market is taking it's last breaths. I come here for a coffee and vegan croissant sitting outside in the sun at Roberts Coffee.

Offering food from all over the world the old market hall has established itself as a popular lunch venue both for locals and tourists visiting the flea market in front. The old beautiful wooden interior is so high that the restaurants at both ends are on two floors. It is nice to see businesses flourish as the previous efforts to enliven the space either as a traditional or antique market didn't succeed.

When Jamie W. and I ventured to Helsinki this past year, we had no idea where to stroll as we braces ourselves for the brisk Nordic climate. The irony is that it's genuinely easy to traverse the city center. The Yelp app plus the city's enormously efficient public transit certainly helped us to get to some interesting spots like this food hall which has a distinctly American vibe to it. Of course, my bias comes from being an American, but it did remind me of Chelsea Market in NYC, Pike Place Market in Seattle, and as Autumn mentioned, the Ferry Building in San Francisco.

It's full of mostly culinary vendors reflecting how diverse the Finnish palate is. It wasn't crowded when we entered the hall, but you could tell the most popular spots among the locals were Street Gastro where they serve up specialty sandwiches, Stadin Herkut with their Mediterranean and Middle Eastern delicacies, Robert's Coffee, and Fat Ramen where we ended up for lunch. The hall opened in 1903, although it went through several iterations before becoming a food hall just five years ago. It's definitely worth a stop.

Finally! An old school(ish) food market that hasn't gone full tourist. We had salmon soup from the soppkök place and a bacon cheeseburger from Roslund - both were great. 22 euros and image two dishes fed a hungry family of three. We'd come back again. Bonus - there's a flea market out front most days in the summer.

This is a food hall it is not a gift shop.
It is very nice and shame it is not listed properly as you won’t find it when looking for food… I have suggested an edit

Used to be a traditional market hall, but is nowadays a hall for small restaurants. Some of them are really nice, so can be a good choice for lunch for example.
