When I visited in December it looked abandoned. Maybe because of the snow storm but it was closed when I visited. It is a beautiful church and that's about it. It's a pity it was closed because I would have loved to viist and warm up a bit because that was the only building I saw in this area. Nevertheless, it is a nice photo opportunity.

I don't believe that you can go in on a regular base, or at least the place wasn't open for public when I was there.

Cheapest way to get there ferry from market square €5.00 round trip 12 hr time literally you can be in the island for 3,5,6,7 + hrs no more than 12 hrs. Literally you can pick a spot in the Island and plenty of them to avoid crowds facing all sort of direction to enjoy the weather etc. nice their is a market to buy food. Prefer to buy it in the main island-Helsinki for picnic lunch.
Best for everyone who like history, walking, picnic, hanging out etc there different cafes, restaurants even and event place👍😀🌞recommended if it's nice and sunny weather 20 min boat fried from market square. You can bring also swimming trunks incase you want to take a dip in cold water- I didn't see place to change it rinse-if you do come prepared.sauna I saw on but did not investigate if it's for residents only? Hostel also available check on line mostly fully booked for the summer?

The church itself a great structure during its time. When I visited organ was playing acoustic was awesome. Good rest if you've been outdoors and just sit there for a few min to whatever time allows your free time.

This is a real shame as inside they have photos of how it looked when it was an orthodox church in Russian times. It looked much nicer then...now they've removed many of the domes and now it looks quite plain and boring.

Built Orthodox in the 1850's the church was converted Lutheran after the Finnish independence and still modernized in the 1960's.
Looking at the Classical architecture, the airy and light interior it is hard to imagine the now defunct towers with golden cupolas and a heavy altar covering many windows. during the Russian reign. Now the church is a popular summer wedding venue, not only among locals but also foreing couples. A high landmark, the tower is permanently transmitting the H code as sign of Helsinki for those arriving by sea. The enclosure around the building is made of big gun barrels and massive chains originally used to close the islands many water inlets from invaders.

The Church was very beautiful and a place of solace. Much history of Finland is enshrined there. The Caroline ship was fascinating.

The church is located inside the Suomenlinna fortress. Its a very tall and impressive building and you will surely love the serenity and peace around this place.

Extremely plain. Literally nothing to see inside. I had better times playing with a potato on a sofa.

When I took boat to Suomenlinna/Sveaborg this saturday morning I saw this Church and I also went into it for a little look. You have to take the Ferry for seeing this its not in Helsinki. I paid 5 euro for a 12 hours ticket in a machine. Its on a island and its the famous fortress who are located here. Here should be guided trips here but I had map from tourist info in town and didnt get anymore info for the 2-3 hours I was here. Church was Nice inside and outside. The Suomenlinna Church was built as a Russian Orthodox garrison church in 1854. The Suomenlinna Church is a popular venue for weddings, concerts and other events. The crypt of the church can also be rented for small events.
