About
The Suomenlinna Toy Museum presents old toys, the oldest of which go back to the beginning of the 19th century. The newest toys are from the 1960’s. The private collection features hundreds of old dolls, approximately one hundred historic teddy bears, and other toys full of history. The toys of the collection are from Finland and thus reflect the Finnish culture and game tradition. Of great interest are for example the toys and games of wartime

An absolute MUST if you are visiting the island! First of all, I enjoyed it as an adult seeing some toys from when I was a child. Second, my child enjoyed it as I taught him about how life was a hundred years ago based on the toys and their play houses! He was fascinated by how houses were so different through the ages! The space age toys were so neat and we really took our time going through all the cases! The gift shop has some super cool vintage toys and I purchased some beautiful souvenirs as well as a vintage toy for my son. Highly recommend touring around and learning about the toys! Beautiful!

Fresh homemade treats, cool little museum with vintage toys. Some have a brief history about the toy. Guides in many different languages. The owner is extremely friendly and nice and made it such a pleasant trip.

It is a very nice experience visiting this museum. Some dolls like Micky are not representing their fictional characters in my option. However, many of them are so finely made that you will fell like passing through a journey to your childhood.

It´s a welcoming place, with a cozy cafe to eat a snack and rest. Yet I would call it not a museum, but a collection of old toys, most from early and mid 20th century. So I would consider it a little overpriced.
Worth a visit only if you´re a fan of vintage toys.

The toy museum is sweet, and especially I like the cafe there. Delicious cakes, coffees, teas, etc. And very friendly service! Also dogs are welcome. :)

I have more interesting old toys between the cushions on my couch... This is a total waste of money. It's two rooms with some old and boring toys in it, on the edge of creepy. I wanted to get my money back afterwards.

This is a very interesting museum. There is a leaflet available when you enter that guides you trough the museum. With descriptions of what you see at each cabinet. Even though this is a toy museum, I would say that it is more adult focused. We spent about 1,5 hours walking around the small museum and reading about every toy.

The Toy Museum is run by a lovely family and is a fairy tale bungalow in the island. The toy museum is beautiful and they also have a very very cozy coffee shop.
The owner lady was very sweet and charming and told us a lot about how the family has spent their life time on the Island.
Do NOT give this place a miss when you there :)

The Suomenlinna toy museum is a must for families with children visiting the Suomenlinna fortress island in Helsinki - but for adults, too, for nostalgia and visual delight.
The collection of antique toys is surprisingly large and variable, holding items from a large time span, prettily staged according to themes. You can also have a coffee and bun by a garden table.
When walking up from the ferry, turn left after having passed the church/lighthouse to find the museum.

This is a delightful museum, attached to a delightful cafe, in a delightful garden setting! It is tucked away from other main attractions on the island, and well worth the detour. It was our favourite part of our visit to Suolenlinna. The toy museum is based on a private collection that has been added to to make a quite extraordinary range of toys that are well displayed and annotated (in many languages). The cafe is charming (loved the knitted tea cosies) and the surrounding garden is lush with pleenty of outdoor seating. We stopped in for tea and ended up spending two hours here.
