    Design for all ages
Lovely to explore - and get to learn more about the fantastic Finnish designers. My daughter and I especially enjoyed the ground floor permanent exhibition about design in Finland throughout the ages. It’s suitable for all ages. There’s activities for smaller and bigger kids. Nice souvenir shop and cafe, too.

    Finnish design knowledge
Good to know Finnish designs and inventings which Finnish people are proud of. We are happy to see the modern part as well. The exhibitions of the carpets filled too much on the top floor. We expected to see more local inventing furnitures and Maybe also some to sit on or to interactivate. The part is missing

    Nice little Museum
We visited this place during our first trip to Helsinki. We like northern design. The special exhibition with carpets is amazing. The standard collection with design examples is also very interesting. The building is art on his own.

Finland is known for design. The museum, that is already quite old, is just south of the center. Entrance fee of 20 euros is included in the Helsinki card. There are three floors. The ground floor shows different typical Finnish designs of furniture, glass and clothes. One floor up there are amazing works of textile, carpets and embroideries. The lowest floor had an exhibition of lights with explanations that I may call not so easy to understand. But overall it was a nice experience.

Be sure you are Scandinavian design lover of usual objects . Most of them glassware for kitchen and decoration designed in the 50s to 80s. Museum bit small not much to see in term of design process, designers life, fabrication etc . So many items similar to what you will be able to buy at IKEA ....don't be mind spoiled . All Scandinavian cheap dealers copied or inspired from artists established long ago

The changing exhibitions Sustainable Colour (in the basement) and Intimacy (on the top floor) were about textile dyeing and fashion. For us, it was quite boring.

The permanent exhibition The Story of Finnish Design we have seen before and didn't visit it this time. I am sure that for the first-timer, this exhibition would have had much more to give.

Surely an essential for any local or visitor. Interesting, inspiring and informative, I'd have gone back the next day had I stayed longer in Helsinki. I went in the evening, which was a great time to go. Plenty to take in and photos allowed. A perfect showcase of some superb Finnish designers and all their genius. Fabulous gift shop too – I spent a lot of euros in there!

For the price of 15 euros, I expect much more. I don't know what the lineup was like before, but the current one is not good. Finnish design crammed into 3 rooms. For example, Alvar Aalto and Eero Aarnio deserve much, much more space and information about them. It would be great if there were some interactive exhibits, where you can try some chairs.
Souvenir shop also nothing special.
I left disappointed after 30 minutes.

An absolutely wonderful museum featuring both permanent and temporary exhibits. I loved that it showcased practical application of design work from broad to niche consumers. Added bonus:. terrific lunch soup/salad buffet.

Small but excellent museum. Standing exhibit on Finnish design and a temporary exhibition on design in relation to equality and social justice, which was really interesting. The museum shop had some great 'souvenirs' too.

Found the museum interesting, and we enjoyed the exhibits. We were able to see everything in about 90 minutes. Not sure I'd come back on my next visit to Helsinki unless they changed up their exhibits. Learned a few new things about Finland but wasn't really "wowed" by any single exhibit.
