We checked out the museum and found they had two exhibits, one Rodin and one called JapanMania which showed the impact of Japanese art on European artists. Both were well done and worth the nominal entry fee of 13 euros/person. They also had some house art that was worth viewing. They have an area you can hang your coats, but... More

If you only have time for one, pick Ateneum! The building itself is beautiful and the permanent collection is wide and interesting portfolio of paintings and sculptures. Do not forget to visit in the museum shop, there are lovely products from local artisans.

Fantastic museum. The exhibition on re-discovering the Finnish classics was very well structured, and the building itself is very impressive.

This museum was a grave disappointment. I can't quite put a finger on why I was disappointed as I like a lot of the pictures on exhibit but it didn't exhilarate me in comparison to some museums in the world, vastly overpriced even for an expensive city like Helsinki.

This museum teaches the fact that there are a lot of Finnish artists comparable to the well know modern artists of France ans Spain. And even the museum itself is very decorated with taste!

I love visiting, as the vision that goes into shaping each yearly exhibits is unsurpassed. It also helps that there are plenty for chairs for those less able-bodied to rest upon, and lifts to the floors. The museum is totally worth the price of entry and I recommend the permanent Finnish collection

It is a small museum overall. The Rodin exhibition had some pieces in the corners that were free to touch and my little daughter had fun with those. If you have children, the workshop is a must for the kids to have some fun time with clay modeling.

I warmly recommend this museum. You can visit it several times per year and enjoy the changing special exhibitions. I have a personal relationship to the museum, as my great.grandfather was the first director.

Ateneum is a right in the centre of Helsinki, right across the main railway station. This spring's main attraction is a retrospective exhibition of Auguste Rodin's life and works, with closer to a hundred pieces ranging from small drafts and rough casts to larger than life "Thinker". Top exhebition this year in Europe!

Small but nice museum. The Rodin and Japanmania exhibits were very interesting..and included a few Monets, Gauguins, etc.
