As a foreign visitor, I must say, that the museum didn't wow me. There were mainly Finnish artists that I have never heard of, and it just doesn't keep my attention as much, as when I know of the artist. But still, it was a...More

Ateneum is the most important art museum in Finland. This time there was an exhibition 'Fantastico! - Italian Art from the 1920s and 1930s'. In my opinion, the permanent Finnish Classics exhibition is much more interesting.

We came here with Road Scholar. The docent focused on Finnish artists during the different schools of painting especially focusing on Finnish folk tales.

Lovely building with a not very large but interesting collection of artwork including Van Gogh. Well worth visiting if time permits.

This is a lovely art museum close to the railway station in the centre of Helsinki. It houses mainly classic works of art and is the home of the Finnish Art Society.

Most impressed with the art collection. Had no idea of the depth and quality of Finnish art. Also contains fine examples of European art..very well displayed and not crowded. Delicious food in the cafe.
