For anyone serious about art, this is essential-- especially because it exposes you to regional art that I would otherwise know nothing about. Beautiful building, extremely professional curation etc.

We were able to see a rather extensive show of Alice Neel which was very impressive. Some of the lighting is a little sketchy but overall the presentation is excellent with very nice narratives.

This is a beautiful museum with an excellent permanent collection of Finnish and European artists. There was a current travelling exhibition showing Alice Neel's paintings - not to be missed!

I visit Ateneum, at least, tv-licens a year. It's allways nice to there. The permanent exhibition include several paintings of Finlands most famous painters as Albert Edefelt, Pekka Halonen, Hugo Simberg, Eero Järnefelt, Helene Schjerfbeck, Akseli Gallen-Kallels, Ferdinand Wright etc... Just now there is an exhibition of Alice Neel's paintings. She was from New York. It's worth to pay a... More

In Ateneum you can find the largest collection of Finnish paintings from past to almost presence. If you like art, I will highly recommend this. Even the building itself is beautiful. The Museum Shop is a great place to shop souvenirs. The toilets are awful but apparently they are going to be renovated soon.

Quite interesting art, mostly Finnish. Alternating exhibition was not so interesting this time but generally I like the idea. Very well located, easy to reach.

Superb and really informative gallery with great Finnish art and while we were there a superb Alice Neel exhibition. Everything is superbly well laid out and the visiting exhibition is free also. London galleries like the Tate could learn a lot from this place.

Nice collection with many great Finnish artists. We enjoyed learning about many artists we had never experienced before. Good museum in a nice building. Liked this museum but enjoyed Kiasma more.
