This is such a lovely part of Helsinki with so much green space and right next to the sea. We really enjoyed strolling along the adjoining boardwalk with ice cream from Helsingin Jäätelötehdas.

Large, flanked on three sides by water, this park sites at the southern end of the old town. It is best enjoyed on a warm day, as there is little to protect the visitor from any gust of wind or rain squall. there is a low hill (where the local astronomy club build a small dome for stargazers) which allows... Kaivopuisto is an old finnish parkinstitution. There people have celebrated 1.5 day for centuries and its also good place to just go picnic or go running. Seaside wiew is great.

The park is great in the summer, with a beautiful view of the sea. In winter, when it's covered in snow (on a good year, from January to March) you can sledge down the slopes on some of the hills.

It is obvious that Kaivopuisto is a lovely park in the summer with it's curving walkways and old trees. In the snowless darkness of mid-winter you might look at and visit buildings near by. Many foreign embassies are situated by the park in a variety of houses of different architectual styles. This is also an elite location to live in,... More
