This seaside park was named after Finland's greatest composer Jean Sibelius (1865-1957) on his 80th birthday in 1945.

The grounds are kept in a somewhat natural state. Old birch trees shade park benches. The park is meant to reflect the rugged natural beauty of Finland, as inspired by Sibelius's music.

The highlight in the park is the Sibelius Monument designed by Eila Hiltunen and unveiled in 1967.

Sibelius Park is one of the must-see attractions when you are visiting Helsinki. The park is not big but very nice and quiet. The metal monument devoted to Finnish composer Jan Sibelius is the main place of the park. The monument looks unusual - it is made from metal pipes, symbolizing nature and harmony. Very nice place to walk there and enjoy.

Pretty park, we visited in Dec. Luckily a fine day so we decided to walk from Market Square.

I loved the changing architecture as you move out of the central city. We wended our way - about 8km from Market square. For the last few blocks we followed the road as beside the lake. It is winter so its not at its prettiest, but still very pleasant.

Also visited The monument is an interesting sculpture. Not a lot of visitors whilst we were there so we could take out time & view from various angles.

We then walked about 500 m in the direction opposite the lake and picked up Tram 4 at Toolon Halli /Tolo Hallabout stop. Other trams that service the same stop were 2& 10.

A great way to see different aspects of Helsinki.

Critics of this award-winning sculpture of stylized organ pipes were quick to point out that Sibelius had written little organ music. The artist then added a sculpture with the face of Sibelius which was mounted next to the main sculpture.

In any case, it is a stylish monument to Finland's most revered composer. The surrounding park is small but beautiful.

Ok, so maybe I got lost in the moment, but trudging through the deep snow with my wife to get to the Sibelius Park and then the monument felt a little like something out of a fairytale or rom-com movie.

Granted, it’s just a park near the water, and it has one interesting monument, but under the blue sky, in the freezing snow, this had a really romantic & enchanting feel to it and the fact there were only 3 or 4 other people at the monument meant it almost felt like our own private park!

It might not be a must-see in Helsinki but if you have the time to take a quick tram in this direction I can highly recommend it, especially in the winter…seeing loads of kids sledding down hills was also super amusing!

And if you get the chance to go to Cafe Regatta afterwards, do it, just a couple of mins walk away!

A visit to the park was one of the stops on our Regent Baltic Sea cruise...and we had the opportunity to walk to, around, and under the Sibelius tubes. It was a calm day, so we did not hear any sound emanating from the structure, which otherwise was not a particularly inspiring site. There were several contiguous porta-potties nearby which were, sadly, not terribly clean, but were useful to those who required their use. We primarily enjoyed looking out on the nearby lake and birds who were feeding on insects in the grass.
Bottom line, unless this is part of a tour and thus unavoidable, we'd not think this to be a site worthy of a special visit.

The monument itself is located near the lake, but is not well marked to get there from all entrances. Best to use some sort of map / navigation to find it, particularly in winter. Quite lovely monument, but would benefit from some sort of explaination -- is it a graphic representation of a particular piece (aka Finlandia)?

This park is easily found and has on street parking if you are driving. It is handicap friendly. The central sculpture is surrounded by patio, lawn, and plantings. From a distance the monument appears to be an abstract mountain range. On close inspection, the peaks are various size tubes that reflect the sound of those visiting. A bust of the composer is on an adjacent wall. Not only is the design stunning but it is a wonderful outdoor, green space for the whole family to enjoy.

This park isnt so big but its worth a walk to see the sculpture here. If weather is nice maybe a park walk is good but it was raining when we visited. The walk is about 20-25 mins from the center and if you have time it is nice to see, nothing much else in the area though.

We decided to visit the monument to the great composer and we’re not disappointed. The Finnish have a way of designing monuments, buildings etc. in a way that never seems to disappoint. After seeing this architectural piece we made our way to the shore on the other side of the park. Finding a seat it was a lovely place to relax and watch nature and take in our surroundings. A beautiful setting.
