Take the boat out to the island and wander around for a while, I walked right around the island in less than half an hour. It has lovely beaches although at the time I was there I was the only visitor. The boat crossing costs only 7 euros return, well worth the money and time

I usually visit Pihlajasaari a couple of times every summer, and whilst the mainland Helsinki might be somewhat overcast, the sun often seems to be shining on Pihlajasaari. The actual beach can get busy but the farther, slightly more remote corners and the rocky shores are usually quieter and there are nice little hiding places all along the shore. There... More

I went here every day during my stay and enjoyed the beautiful fresh air and the stunning scenes across the water. It's a great place to go at any time but I enjoyed it for evening strolls.

Nice little island is easy to reach from Helsinki. Nice beach and short boat trip from Ruoholahti or Merisatama.

Very nice natural island, for anyone looking for a quick relaxation while in Helsinki. The island(s) are accessable by boat that leaves from beside Cafe Carusel every hour. Round-trip ticket costs 7.50€

By the harbour. The park was starting to flower and one can imagine that in July-August it would be a delightful place to walk, sit on a bench, take photos and just relax.

Here you can have some light lunch, coffee, ice cream etc. between sun bathing and swimming. We had a salad which was quite ok. Lot of seats outside on the terrace.

Helsinki on a sunny (yes might actually happen, at least once every year) summer day is empty of locals. Those working will if the day "summer" arrives on a weekend go to the beach. The beach being the island of Pihjalasaari. The island is not big, and it might get very crowded, but there are both sandy beaches and flat... More

Great place to spend a warm summer day, the main beached can be very crowded though, so if you're not willing to walk a bit and explore the areas you'll be stuck in a sea of towels. The water never gets really warm here, but if you're up for a swim in the baltic sea this is the place.

Favourite place to swim in the sea in Helsinki. About a 10 min boat ride away. Once you land, head to the cliffs on the other side. Wonderful views!
