Pihlajasaari Recreational Park is located 3 km from the city centre. Pihlajasaari is the most popular summer island in Helsinki due to the beautiful sandy beaches. Pihlajasaari covers around 26 hectares & is actually two islands with a bridge connecting the two islands. The ferry...More

The ferry to Pihlajasaari was a nice experience, it only takes about 10 minutes but on a sunny day it was really enjoyable to sit on the open deck. There's two islands, one for camping and the nudist beach, and another one with sandy beaches,...More

We really liked Pihlajasaari. Natures peace and beautiful beaches right next to the city. It is easily accessed from Ruoholahti with the ferry taking 15 minutes. Restaurant served delicious creamy salmon soup and finnish pancakes (pannari).

Pihjalasaari is certainly a must see in Helsinki if you wish to experience an authentic beach instead of crowded Hietaniemi beach. Good facilities for picnic, grill and barbecue and of course swimming. Just remember to check ferry schedule as it goes only once or twice...More

Nice park, where you can relax during the hot days in Helsinki. You can swim in the sea or rest in the nearby coffee shop and restaurant. Nice for a family walk in nature.
