Its nicer on the outside and the Senate Square around is lovely and worth climbing the steps at the Cathedral for the view. Otherwise its just a large plain church if you like that sort of thing

Helsinki Cathedral is probably the most prominent feature that one sees of Helsinki when arriving by ferry. As it stands on a hill, it seems to float above the city. The gleaming white facade and the green copper roofs make it very beautiful to behold when the sun is shining. Helsinki Cathedral presides over Senate Square (Senaatintori) and forms, together... Very good location on the top of the hill and a big square underneath but that's all. If it wasn't the for organ, there is nothing interesting to see inside the church.

Perched high upon the hill this church is beautifully imposing. We visited near the end of a very long day so the steps were dizzying. With the grandeur on the outside some people might anticipate something very remarkable on the inside. You will not find that here. If you are up for a good climb the view is nice. I... More

This Lutheran Cathedral strikes you because of its humble interiors, yet bold stance above most of Helsinki. I attended a wedding ceremony, which allowed me to have full immersion into local traditions.

The Cathedral is stunning from the outside, but in a city that is full of attractions, there isn't really a whole lot that attracted me here. We spent a total of ten minutes here and moved on. It's still a must see place, but I wouldn't recommend setting aside too much time to see it.

The outside is pompous and powerful, inside minimalist in true Lutheran spirit. The church was built in the 19th century as part of the Empire-style-downtown Helsinki area. One of Helsinki's signature buildings.

This cathedral is a huge structure that sits above some steps and stands out overlooking Helsinki. Nice inside and worth a look. Unfortunately having structural work done, so one side is covered, however I'd still go and have a look as it's very nice
